mlaterreur 0 Posted March 6, 2024 Posted March 6, 2024 Was support for CUE sheets added in the meantime? It doesn't seem to work on my server. Most of my albums (jazz and classical music) are cue+flac files. Thank you.

smai999 1 Posted May 10, 2024 Posted May 10, 2024 NAS and Emby users are different from the normal user, at least in my country. This is a field of design for a few enthusiasts I've been hanging out in the PT community recently and I've found that nearly half of the lossless music resources in the community are in ape/flac+cue format I was very surprised when I found this page。 In any case, Emby has done a good enough job. I support you to decide whether or not to add this function according to the amount of resources and actual demand, or when to add it

fgp303 0 Posted May 10, 2024 Posted May 10, 2024 (edited) yup, this is sad story. The devs don't feel this is a "standard" things in flac/wav based albums, like m3u in mp3 files. I bet they have lots of other important issues about bug hunting or focus on other demands. Edited May 10, 2024 by fgp303

Ronstang 293 Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 People....Cue file support is NOT coming to emby, nor should it. It is a yesterdecade thing and almost no one uses them today. I understand why you use them as I still do too but in a different way than I used to. It made sense 20 years ago for archiving purposes and there are players like Foobar2000 that support playing an image file using a cue sheet but most people do not use their music this way any more, nor should they if you are honest. Hard drives are cheap, so yes I still rip all music CDs to an image file with a cue sheet, but this is only for archival, not for playing. I then use CueTools to convert the image file to individual FLAC tracks with a cue sheet but that is out of old habit more then anything. If you don't want to store your music twice then forgo the image and simply use the individual tracks with the cue sheet....it results in the same thing. At least this way you can use your music in a much more versatile way being in individual tracks. I have another hard drive with all my FLAC tracks made into mp3 for the car or phone etc. but with the individual FLAC tracks you can use them directly through emby even if you have them in mp3 somewhere else so there is really only upside and versatility.
fgp303 0 Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 (edited) I understand you feel this is a medieval feature but lots of times it can be usefull. Like not all music cd wave 2 sec gap between the tracks, sometimes 0 sometimes different and this can be different between the tracks. With cue i can enjoy the original structure meanwhile i can hold the audio tracks in individual files. + i dont say nothing from the index points which very rare but sometimes also necessary for proper usage. (think on old AMG loop CDs with 99 tracks and each tracks have multiple index points.) i hope once someone will made a plugin for cue support... Edited June 12, 2024 by fgp303

All without a cue sheet. 1
fgp303 0 Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 (edited) I also able to listen music with foobar which have full cue support. However thanks for the alternate solution! Edited June 12, 2024 by fgp303
pwhodges 2012 Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 The objection I would recognise to separate files is mainly the continuing lack of continuous play - which means that any through-composed music (whether opera or an album) that also has tracks gets mangled at each track point. But if support for a single file with cue info still meant each track still being treated separately by the player you might even not get the expected benefit of playing one file continuously... Paul

I would not hold your breath, there really isn't any demand for a feature that most people dropped 10 years ago. I still use cue files in with my music collection I just don't use them for playback because if you want to random play tracks of a subset of albums that are images with cue files it is probably not going to work or be very tedious and messy. You are better off using your cue files to generate FLAC tracks and let emby organize them in the database. Or any music manager for that matter.
