TheBrainninja 0 Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Hello, This has been an issue for a little while, though it seems like it's getting worse; some directories in my mixed-content libraries are entirely ignored - not just mis-detected, but completely absent. I'm able to add those folders in manually, and looking through the logs it lists "duplicate library path" or something similar. However, neither those directories nor their contents are anywhere to be found. I'm not sure if this started with version 4.0, but I'm on 4.0.2.0 now. For reference, despite repeated re-scanning, "Talk-Shows" never shows up in Emby: There are plenty other sub-directories in other folders that don't appear, but since there are relatively few sub-directories here it was a lot easier to finally recognize the issue. This is the top-level of my "Documentaries and Other" library. Thanks in advance for any help!
Luke 42078 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Are these folders already part of other libraries?
TheBrainninja 0 Posted March 27, 2019 Author Posted March 27, 2019 Are these folders already part of other libraries? Hey Luke, Thanks for the reply! No, my Libraries are exact reflections of my folders in my top-level Videos directory; I have them broken into different folders based on content, and my Libraries are 1:1 with those. I've double-checked, and no other libraries contain any of the missing folders.
Luke 42078 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 What is the contents of the talk-shows folder? Has this folder been added to any other emby library?
TheBrainninja 0 Posted March 27, 2019 Author Posted March 27, 2019 What is the contents of the talk-shows folder? Has this folder been added to any other emby library? Currently just one directory; it's a work in progress! That directory is not part of any other library. Also, I've verified the permissions on the directory: The "mediamanagers" group is one I created with myself and the "emby" user as members to give that service write permissions.
TheBrainninja 0 Posted March 29, 2019 Author Posted March 29, 2019 Is any of the content reachable via search? It is not; near as I can tell, these directories are completely absent from Emby's inventory. I have not tried removing/re-adding these libraries recently, but I may have done that with the 4.0 upgrade - unfortunately I don't remember!
Luke 42078 Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 By any chance have you created any .ignore files? Any folder containing those will be ignored. Also on linux, any folders starting with a dot . will be ignored.
TheBrainninja 0 Posted March 31, 2019 Author Posted March 31, 2019 I double checked, and I've never used any .ignore files. I do make extensive use of hidden folders in Linux, but the folders we're talking about now don't even have those in them, just a standard "Season-01" folder. At this point do you think it would be advisable to remove and re-add the library? I have extensive custom content in all my libraries, but if it would fix this issue I'm...preparing myself to re-do that work. Thanks as always.
Luke 42078 Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 At this point do you think it would be advisable to remove and re-add the library? You could try that, maybe even giving it a new name. Let us know how you get on. Thanks.
TheBrainninja 0 Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 You could try that, maybe even giving it a new name. Let us know how you get on. Thanks. Luke, thanks for the feedback, sorry for my delay. I removed and re-added the library, once with the same name, once with a new name; in both cases, Emby did not find any content, not even content it had found previously. As it stands, that library is empty and everything I had available before is no longer.
TheBrainninja 0 Posted May 4, 2019 Author Posted May 4, 2019 What are the other libraries that you've created? I have...a total of three Mixed Content libraries, one of Books and one of Music. All the other libraries are fine, as far as I can tell. I'm attaching my most recent server log, as of this morning, having just removed, re-added, and repeatedly scanned the library. I hope this helps! The library in question is currently called "Misc," previously 'Miscellaneous" and "Documentaries & Other," though I'm not sure if those names will be anywhere in the log. Thanks again as always, this has been driving me crazy for quite a while! emby-server-Log_20190504_0745am.txt
TheBrainninja 0 Posted May 4, 2019 Author Posted May 4, 2019 Can you list out the paths added to each library? Animation - /mnt/Media/Videos/Animation/ Books - /mnt/Media/Books/ Live Action - /mnt/Media/Videos/Live-Action/ Misc - /mnt/Media/Videos/Miscellaneous/ Music - /mnt/Media/Audio/Music/ There's also a Collections library Emby created for itself.
Luke 42078 Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 For the library that has folders not showing up, can you try removing the library, running a full scan, then adding it back as home videos?
TheBrainninja 0 Posted May 4, 2019 Author Posted May 4, 2019 For the library that has folders not showing up, can you try removing the library, running a full scan, then adding it back as home videos? I tried that just now, ran a few scans after I added it back in, still nothing. Just to make sure, I double-checked the file permissions as well, Emby should have full access to those directories.
Luke 42078 Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Have you checked permissions of all of the sub-folders? That's just about my only guess at this point.
TheBrainninja 0 Posted May 4, 2019 Author Posted May 4, 2019 (edited) Have you checked permissions of all of the sub-folders? That's just about my only guess at this point. I chased a few of them all the way down, but not all. _Most_ of that library was just working a few days ago, until I removed it (reckless on my part, I'll admit). I'm at a loss for how to regain the use of that library, I'm not even sure reinstalling the server software would do any good. I'll try re-naming the top directory to see if adding it that way has any benefit. Thanks for your attention Luke, sorry to keep bugging you. Edit: So that did nothing, but in desperation I tried re-adding the directory under the TV content type; it popped up immediately. That unfortunately doesn't work well for me, as much of what's in there count as "movies" and thus have incorrect metadata, but it seems like it's specifically related to the Mixed and Home Movies content types. Happy2Play 9780 Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 I think you will have to break it down on exact folder structure and content to understand what is going on.
TheBrainninja 0 Posted May 4, 2019 Author Posted May 4, 2019 I think you will have to break it down on exact folder structure and content to understand what is going on. I'm not sure I understand - do you mean I'll need to divide movies and TV to properly troubleshoot from here? Or just that I'll need to post a full filepath to figure out why the content won't appear in a Mixed Content library.

The latter, as we need to know complete paths of the content and probably what content is in these folders to possibly figure out why your having this issue.

Ah, thanks for the clarification! An example file path in that library: /mnt/Media/Videos/Miscellaneous/Documentaries/Food-Inc_[2008]/Food-Inc_[2008].mkv A couple of TV Episodes: /mnt/Media/Videos/Miscellaneous/Documentaries/Surviving-R-Kelly_[2019]/Season-01/Surviving-R-Kelly_S01E01_The-Pied-Piper-of-R&B - 1080p.mkv /mnt/Media/Videos/Miscellaneous/Talk-Shows/Desus-and-Mero_[2019]/Season-01/Desus-&-Mero-(2019)_S01E01_Series-Premiere,-Ballbags - 720p.mkv Edited May 4, 2019 by TheBrainninja
