pir8radio 1312 Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 Can you guys add a theme that isn't as dark as all the other themes, but not as light as the apple tv theme? Its kind of like goldilocks lol. Looking for something that would be good for general tv use. Maybe a light greyish theme? 3
pir8radio 1312 Posted March 24, 2019 Author Posted March 24, 2019 Have you tried Blue Radiance? Yea its what I use today, but something a little less..... Blue :-) but not as white as Apple TV if that makes sense.. :-) 1
Carlo 4561 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 I too struggle to find a good theme to use and keep trying different ones. Lately I keep going back to WMC theme. There are other themes I like LiveTV kills it's use with the left column being to dark and "drowning" out the icons used for stations. Station logos that are dark are next to impossible to see in some themes that otherwise are OK.
chacawaca 109 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 i understand its probably not a priority but a color editor for app (not only webpage layout) would be nice, i dont want to modify skin layout, but just change accent color, bg color etc.
Carlo 4561 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 To be honest, I'd be happy if they just changed the row in the grid that has station logos (EPG) in the different themes to a lighter color so the logos can actually be seen.

I agree and I've tried to do this in Android TV and Roku. The truly black logos show up there, but, then there are other logos with colors that don't show up. With images like this that we have absolutely no control over, it will be very hard to find a background that works with all of them.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing I messed with it using CSS and like you said it fixed the really dark logos but then the really light ones looked like crap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Carlo 4561 Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 (edited) I agree and I've tried to do this in Android TV and Roku. The truly black logos show up there, but, then there are other logos with colors that don't show up. With images like this that we have absolutely no control over, it will be very hard to find a background that works with all of them. What would also be of help is displaying the station ID in text as well as the number. Regardless of color combination this way the channel number and station would always have good contrast to whatever background is used. Here's a pic from zap2it with a grey background which shows some troublesome icons. Here's a pic from Titan. This used a separate column for the logo and the channel number which I don't think is needed (but does need the station name as done above). How this is shown above for Zap2It, probably without the favorite star icon would work really well IMHO. Using the "grey" background would probably work for every theme in EPG. When the background colors for movies, shows, sports, news, etc are applied to the grid it would take on a lot nicer appearance and not look dull at all. You can see how the Titan version sort of looks better than the zap version in the grind listings due to the background colors used for sports, movies, etc. So yes, I'm suggesting "hard coding" the grey background regardless of theme selected for the "base" color. The "movies, shows, sports, news" background colors used in the grid could be color coded to match the theme of course. Just my idea how to handle this a bit better. Edited March 28, 2019 by cayars
