joshhuggins 22 Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 I have a TV series with 4 seasons. The preferred episode watch order has episodes from all the seasons mixed together. Is there any way to create a custom watch order for a series. I was thinking of maybe a playlist that could be displayed under the root series? Any one have a clever way to add a playlist to a series or something similar? Thanks!
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 have you tried changing the "Display Order" option in the metadata for the Series - via edit metadata
joshhuggins 22 Posted March 23, 2019 Author Posted March 23, 2019 I did but there is not an option that will work as far as I can tell since it's a custom user created order. Would be nice if the drop down had an option for playlist and could list the available playlists?
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 I must be missing something - could you explain what you mean by "preferred episode watch order" - is this what would come from a metadata provider like TVDB or do you mean the order you want them to play? Creating a playlist - would work as you can re order the list after its created Other options - although manual editing - which might suit what you want Or depending how many out of order episodes you have - renaming the episodes might work or change the episode and season numbers in edit metadata - once done i would lock the metadata so it does not change on a refresh
joshhuggins 22 Posted March 26, 2019 Author Posted March 26, 2019 (edited) could you explain what you mean by "preferred episode watch order" These are fan created play orders. They are made usually to help order the content in the storyworld's chronological timeline or in a way that they help tell the story better than the original release orders, or by adding in additional content in the middle of a season, etc. Creating a playlist - would work as you can re order the list after its created I think this would be the easiest way to go and allow for the greatest flexibility. The existing playlist system is already very robust and already allows us to create a playlist that includes content from across our all of our libraries. We can create playlists from Movies, TV, Extras, Audio, podcasts, images, etc. All we need now is a way to access that playlist from an individual item. Users may not know that a playlist exists for that content otherwise. So say I build a Marvel, DC or Star Wars universe playlists. I would like access to that playlist from within any of those items. If we could manually relate to a playlist would be good, but if the server could see that a media item is referenced in an existing playlist, then it could add a button to that entity's main screen for Movies, TV shows top level and seasons would be awesome! At first I was thinking it could be under the ... item but it would not be quite as discoverable there. Edited March 26, 2019 by joshhuggins
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Ok i see now Thats a good idea - so its not lost i would create a feature request in that forum so others can "like" it and hopefully enough to get the devs attention
Rhys93 2 Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 Is there an update on this, I'd love to have something similar. Would be great to put star wars: clone wars in chronological order rather than release order, also including the clone wars animated movie
