added user cant connect

I dont know why this has to be so difficult. I am not a techy so please reply in respect to that. I added a user. tried all kinds of IP numbers etc. finally sent him a link that just added him instead of having to know the address. Now he says he can see the server on his end but it says I am not connected when I clearly am.  I also am confused about Emby Connect. is that different than just being logged into my server? thanks in advance.
