It would be great to add bookmarks, so that if an audiobook is 5 hours long you can easily annotate it. for example: at 5:20 I bookmark "Chapter 1" in minute 10:00 I add a bookmark with the words "remember to smile" etc.. In addition to this, the "listen again for 10 minutes" function is missing, so that on one listen to meditation music for sleep, the audio automatically switches off after the preset time. I hope you add these settings because I think they are great thanks 2 1
User2808 3 Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 The first post was in 2019 and people keep asking for it every few months. There's nothing more to come, is there? I would also be very happy for a sleep timer in the (iOS) app Yours sincerely, 1
ZLoth 4 Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 A sleep timer is very necessary for the Audiobook functionality. I've enclosed screenshots from Audible and Smart Audiobook Player. It would also be helpful to have a "Shake Timer" for when you are tired and are listening in bed. 1 1
disworld 5 Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 I was searching for how to set a sleep timer and found this forum thread. I too would like to support this feature and wonder why it is taking so long to implement such a simple improvement. 1
Natelanxon 27 Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 FWIW, I now just use the timer app on iOS and choose the 'Stop Playing' option for what happens when it reaches zero, rather than have a sound play. Works perfectly with Emby, and indeed any other apps. 1
Skyobliwind 7 Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 Any news on this quite old toppic? I still cannot find that option. It is indeed ESSENTIAL for audiobooks and also cool for music. It shouldn't be THAT hard to implement?
Natelanxon 27 Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 I’ve posted this before but you can use the timer app on iPhone for this. Set a timer for however long you want and then choose “stop playing” as the action for when the countdown reaches zero. I’m sure there’s an equivalent for Android. I use this trick every single day and no longer need Emby to incorporate the feature because it also works in other audio apps too.
Skyobliwind 7 Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 Yea, I think there may be some similar workaround for android. It seems there are even seperate sleep timer apps in the playstore. But that's not really convenient in my opinion. It shouldn't be that hard to implement that function and maybe with such functions ppl would start to use the audiobook libary a little more. (I'm thinking of hosting a whole different tool for that like audiobookshelf or something similar because of those few essential functions being missing here. Ofc it's always a thing of offers and requests and audiobooks don't really seem to be the main focus of development over the last few years, but as stated the effort needed for such function should be very low and would increase the use cases for the audiobook libary A LOT.
Dukeanator 0 Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 The best way around this that I have found (If you have each chapter separated into its own file) is to go into the Queue and remove future chapters beyond the point you'd like to stop. This effectively re-creates Audibles "End of Chapter" timer setting. While it does give you more options for longer listening, it does involve more work on your part, but does not take very long. It does not affect future listening to the book, you can resume from the home page and jump right in to the beginning of the next chapter.
Romanu 0 Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Folks, really. Audiobooks apps need a sleep timer. Many if not most audiobooks listeners use this feature. Extra bonus points for detecting when the user went asleep and pause the book even if the sleep timer did not expire. Some sleep-tracking apps seem to detect that... or so they say
Diedrich 377 Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 I came here looking for a sleep timer as well. My use case is to fall asleep to music from my music library. I can't believe this simple feature request is 5 years old and it hasn't been implemented! 2
ANKAH 0 Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 I also wish a timer function, i switched from an other media system to emby and its highly missed. 5 years since initial request bhuuuu , there maybe peoples around waiting 5 years for that.. holy.

Unfortunately the only limit of emby is the requests.. even after 2 years of the same request to remove the download button for users who cannot download unfortunately I still have not received a response... or rather luke responds immediately but most likely if there is not much request they will take your request into consideration but the priority remains very low maybe in 10 years there will be...
Ingo 6 Posted February 2, 2025 Posted February 2, 2025 My post just got referred back here. Sleep timer function for Audiobook seems to be a quite sought after addition. Quote Hi, Another recommendation for a feature that i regular use on my other Audiobook apps. A sleep Timer The sleep timer can be engaged to automatically pause the Audiobook once the timer countdown is done. Use this most often for my kids where there allowed to listen to there storybook while falling asleep. set timer to 30 minutes. and there story stops. Next day its much simpler to find the place where thy snoozed off and carry on listening the story from there. One of the best implementations i have come across has it set up that the last 15sec of the countdown the volume gets reduced slowly. but if you interact with the phone in any way (volume button for instance) it turns the volume back up to the initial volume and restarts the timer automatically allowing another 30min (or whatever your time was ) before pausing it ..... i really use this feature a lot for different scenarios and would love to see them in emby as im in the process of migrating complexity over to emby
Luke 42077 Posted March 14, 2025 Posted March 14, 2025 This is coming in Emby Server 4.9, and actually you'll see it in some Emby apps sooner than that without having to wait for the server release. 1 3
gillmacca01 211 Posted March 14, 2025 Posted March 14, 2025 For the sleep timer, would it be possible to have a custom option, so that I can set it beyond 3 hrs, if I wish 1

gillmacca01 211 Posted March 14, 2025 Posted March 14, 2025 Will this be available for other content Example: live tv, virtual tv plugin, movies/tv shows libraries, etc?

I'm not sure yet. I think for video it would cause confusion with the are you still watching feature because they both pretty much serve the same purpose.
gillmacca01 211 Posted March 15, 2025 Posted March 15, 2025 Understand that, but I believe 'are you still watching' is set for 1 hr. Maybe an option to change that? Regardless, I appreciate you creating the timer app...if nothing else, it will be useful for going to sleep with music playing through Emby
Luke 42077 Posted May 10, 2025 Posted May 10, 2025 This is now in the betas for both android and Apple TV. 2
