Add multiple folders in a library

Hello,

 

I've just discovered Emby! Wonderfull piece of software that fullfill my needs, but... I would like to automatize something

 

I have one folder containing hundred of folders with photos of family, friends and now I want to share them, but not the whole librairy to each user. So I can't add the root folder to library.

I have seen when I add multiple folder in a libray, in the user panel I can select the folders the user can see in the media library, but only if subfolders have been added one by one. I would like to "avoid" adding subfolder one by one, but batch adding them.

 

What I have try :

- List all the paths in txt file => Add all the paths to "C:\Users\Dorian\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\root\default\MyPhotosLibrary\Option.Xml" => create the mblink files containing the paths with correct naming of mblink files.

 

Problem, In the library the folders appears but they are empty... the server doesn't scrape them, I have try to refresh, but nothing more is done.

 

Is the a method to select hundred folders to add to a single library and not select one by one?

Hi.  No, there is no way to do this other than using the UI to add them.

 

You could organize the items in the file system into the groups you wish to be able to control access to and then just add those folders.

I don't want to reorganize my files folders...

So because Emby have all I want, I have a big work to add all the subfolders.

I have a similar issue I think...

I have 3 folders on different drives but when I add all three folders to the 'movies' library I actually get 3 different libraries called "movies" "movies1" and "movies11"

How do I add all three folders to the single library "movies"?

I expected it to 'just work' as Plex does but something isn't setup correctly I guess.

I have tried manually editing the name of the 'rogue' libraries but it won't let me rename to an existing library name.

 

I am trying Emby out since I have eventually just given up with Plex sync. I am a lifetime subscriber but sync is, and always has been, a complete disaster and recently something changed and I can no longer stream over 4G/LTE, so I am done with Plex.

 

Edit : OK, I am an idiot !!! I incorrectly added each folder as its own library rather than noticing that I should really have added multiple folders to the library.

Of course this dawned on me the split second I posted the above issue !!!

 

Guess I shouldn't be doing this setup late at night after a long day !!!
