Wylaryzel 0 Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 (edited) Hi there, first I have say, I'm really happy with Emby as part of my Backend-system. With the workflow for adding new media to Emby I'm fine with it :-) Otherwise I wouldn't use it or purchased a licence. Anyway, there is one subject which I would consider a bug - or at least an unexpected behavior. Due to my workflow and how I organize my collection I have several folders within a type of library (Film and TV-shows). As I use Kodi as my frontend I like to utilize the option that I only have 1 library with several folders for my TV shows and Emby shows it as one show. In those folders there are collections of *.strm-Files (generated to have a direct link to Netflix/Amazon VOD streams), recorded shows drom DVB-S and from remuxed files from my DVD/BluRay collection. As the WebApp from Emby or utilizing the UPnP-Feature of Smart-TV I have to restrict access to the *.strm files and for the UPnP-Feature of the Smart-TV in addition the access to the HighQuality files (due to sound problems). I could make two libraries for this purpose and create a user to access to only the limited library (lot of upkeep). And there are episodes only available in the *.strm-library or TV-recording which I want to show in the Kodi frontend as well (they can play all files). So, there is the option to restrict access to specific folders for a 'WebUser'. As long as a TV Show is dedicated in the allowed folder (is visible in the webfront-end) or in the blocked folder (is not visible in the webfront-end) it works as intended. As soon as episodes are distributed in several folders (blocked and allowed) that user has access also to the blocked folder. I made some pictures to show the 'problem': Here is the library setting for the user - showing it should not have access to the subfolder for TV-recordings Here is the content (not showing in detail the individual episodes) of the allowed folder: You can see, there are sub-folders for season 1 and 2 (containing episodes). Here is the content of the blocked folder: As you can see, there are subfolders for season 2, 4 and 5 (containing episodes). With that structure, I would normally expect that (while blocking the folder from the last picture) I should be able to access season 1 and 2 - not 4 and 5. If I access via the WebFrontend the TV Show (Paw Patrol, for my Kids :-) I get the following overview: Clearly, Season 4 and 5 are accessable. I thought, maybe it only provides information. But I can play episodes from Season 4 and 5 (which should be blocked based on the user access information). Enclosed a picture of a episode information where the episode is in both folders (I didn't cleanup the recordings from TV up to now): I know it maybe is an specific case but I consider it critical for parenteral control (special editions of films which are maybe uncut/unrated where the same movie exists as a FSK-16 version) and for user-experience (why can I access something which I shouldn't). Hope you can have a look into it. Edit: Forgot to add, Emby Server version 4.0.3.0 on a Synology NAS (I'm not in the Beta-Program). BR Edited March 20, 2019 by Wylaryzel
Luke 42078 Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 Hi, yes good catch, we'll take a look at this. This is a little bit of a hard one so it may not happen for a couple releases. Thanks. 1
