Emby streaming performance in Browsers and Android App

Hi Guys. Although I am not a total newbie, there are some things I simply cannot comprehend. Any general suggestion, link, tutorial, tip - on tweaking emby server, or client browser settings, would be much appreciated. And apologies if this has been already answered. I am running QNAP 251 with Celeron and 4GB RAM, and Local network performance should not be the issue.

I love the concept and the app very much, but I get frustrated understanding why Android (Galaxy S7) taken videos at 1080p@60fps get extremely lagged on Android tablet app (quad core, 3GB RAM), Windows (Win7, 4GB Ram, Older Radeon Gaming card) in Firefox and silky smooth on Chrome - on the same Windows system. I am not a fan of opening in external programs, so I would like to understand when/if the problem is with hardware, codecs / compression, transcoding etc. Especially considering e.g. that Firefox / Android app is lagging even if I reduce the original resolution to the minimum provided.

Many thanks in advance.

...with Celeron...

If anything ever needs to transcode, there is probably your answer to any performance issues you are having :).

However, if you can show us a specific example, we can explain more fully.

Intel® Celeron® 2.41GHz dual-core processor (burst up to 2.58GHz)

So I assume the issue should be with the hardware where Emby server is running from, not the client i.e. the PC where I am running the browser on or the android tablet with Emby app ?!

I find it hard to believe this is true in my case, because on the same PC, Chrome is running these videos with silky smoothness - it almost seems hardware accelerated. Firefox is running it choppy on the same machine at any resolution.

Same choppy behaviour on the tablet, mobile phone, other laptop with Intel i5 processor and 8GB of RAM (haven't tried chrome yet there). And I am talking strictly on Gigabit LAN home network. But this is happening exclusively with my private videos - mostly from Samsung Android phone. Xvid, H264 encoded movies are working perfectly everywhere. So I assume it most be codec, compression, transcoding or sth.

And I tried to change any Emby server setting - hardware acceleration on/off, thread count etc. - did not change anything. It's not such a big deal (guess can survive with Chrome), would just like to understand and potentially tweak something to make it work.

If you can show us logs from a specific example, we can explain more fully.

Thanks.

Will do when I have the chance. Just thought it was something commonly known.

Thanks for the answer.
