One2Go 120 Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 @@Luke I recognize some of these images because I am using them also for backdrops and I am willing to bet he has no poster size primary image just backdrops or images in poster size that are not being read. When this happens Emby will take the 1920 x 1080 backdrop image and fit it into a poster size with huge black bands above and below as shown in his first screen shot.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 Between your first and the second screenshot of yours I noticed a similar problem depending on the client. In the first screenshot all it did was take the backdrop image and added it to be displayed that looks terrible. What you need is in the primary image a posters size one like 1000 x 1500 pixels. In addition I would also upload an image 600 x 338 pixels and upload in the Thumbs category. This helped me with the Roku images. Check the images for those that look terrible and see if you have a poster image size as primary and backdrop images (1920 x 1080) as well as Thumb images (600 x 338). I take it that you will work with both servers version 4.* and version 3.* when you got ironed out all the details and are ready to spend the time changing your setup go for it. @@Happy2Play that is really poor that there are no installers for older versions, I do have some but not version 3.5.3.0 is there a guide or a procedure on how to use the Github link you posted? Not all of us are tech savvy enough to work in that environment. All I know is Windows so you can delete everything in the current Emby-Server folder and place the system folder in that folder and launch the embyserver.exe. Or place the system folder within any folder anywhere and launch the exe file. 1
Luke 42077 Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 Hmm, those images should be fine. As a test, if you add a new movie, or rename an existing movie folder, how does that compare?
utah-dave 5 Posted March 25, 2019 Author Posted March 25, 2019 ok I have an update. The folders are starting to look like they use to. I noticed in my dashboard that clip art plugin needed to be updated as well. I let it update and did a library scan over night. ( its still working on it) Now they are looking more like they should. Thank you! But I have to say its killing me smalls to not have folder view any more. You got to bring that back!!!! I am using the Emby TV app in my new Samsung TV's and it dose not display the folder view inside movies like it dose in the web. What do I need to do to talk " Emby" into bringing that option back. Do I need to buy a software Package? Sleep with some one? Help a grandma cross the street? All joking set aside, this is big for us, at 3,930 movie tittles trying to browse the movies under the currant setup takes FOREVER! The kids are talking about going on strike and cooking the dog on the grill. We loved how it worked in 3.5. On the main screen we had folders, then could click the category we setup. and then it would have all the collections at the top of the folder view and the rest below. love, Love, LOVE IT!. Please......... if their is any way to bring this back. We would be supper happy.
utah-dave 5 Posted March 25, 2019 Author Posted March 25, 2019 SWEET!!! Any time frame on that?????? Can I send the progrmas engery drinks? Suger?? you know keep them all pumped up to get it going?
sagor1 0 Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 (edited) How can i view my library like this kind off folder\sub folder Instead of all together. Update-Sorry for my ignorant eyes...I didn't see it was up there. Thanks to everyone who made this amazing software & made this available free to use. I myself personally like the video "Zoom" feature...which is not available on any other software AFAIK. Edited March 27, 2019 by sagor1

Since I have a version of 4.* that works for me I was really more trying to help people that were happy with version 3.* but now updated and were crying help for getting back to version 3.* For me the only interesting feature in version 4.* was the live TV with the EPG. But since I rarely would use that in the home theater I have gotten around that by installing and updating version 4.* on a new Qnap NAS that provides live TV for the house. So just delete the system folder in the Emby-Server folder and unzip the 7z file from GitHub into the new system folder and restart Emby and after a library scan we are back at version 3.* correct? I am using the Emby TV app in my new Samsung TV's and it dose not display the folder view inside movies like it dose in the web. What do I need to do to talk " Emby" into bringing that option back. I have toyed with the idea of solving this dilemma in a different way. Keep my main server that feeds my home theater at version 3.* I then installed server version 4.* on a Qnap NAS that has all the latest features of version 4.* Then on the client side I decide what server to connect to. For the Home Theater version 3.* and all other clients to the Qnap with version 4.*. Since I settled on server version 4.0.1.0 that does what I want in my home theater I stopped with that version and only will update after discussions in the forum have settled the issue of Folder view and BDMV playback in the latest update version. To get my Folder View back in version 4.0.1.0 I had to convert all libraries with content=movies to content=mixed. However there is a benefit to keep up with the latest version you have a larger community to draw resources from then any legacy versions.

No, you cannot do that as the databases are incompatible. You would have to completely start from scratch to go back to 3.x - so be sure to backup your configuration and watched status.
Luke 42077 Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 The upcoming 4.1 release will have improved folder views. Thanks.
utah-dave 5 Posted April 11, 2019 Author Posted April 11, 2019 Hey, sorry to drag this one up again. Is there a time frame when 4.1 will released? Just wondering about how long I need to keep my kids from going on strike? LOL.
pwhodges 2012 Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 It's worth mentioning (as it doesn't seem to have been) that you can select the folder tab to be the default view of a library (in the personal Settings/Home page).
utah-dave 5 Posted April 20, 2019 Author Posted April 20, 2019 (edited) Thanks for the 4.1... I just cant seam to find out to turn on folder view again. Did it move or it has not come back just yet. Edited April 20, 2019 by utah-dave
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 20, 2019 Posted April 20, 2019 Thanks for the 4.1... I just cant seam to find out to turn on folder view again. Did it move or it has not come back just yet. Folder View is a tab per library and you can make it your landing tab if you wish. There is no Folder View Library anymore.
utah-dave 5 Posted April 21, 2019 Author Posted April 21, 2019 When I started this question, it was said it was coming back. hence why I am asking. I was told it was going to be a part of 4.1. IF folder view is not coming back its said to say I will have to start to look for something different. And that is truly said because I have support, donated and referred others to emby all the way back when it was media browser. I am in no mood or position to redo all my movies yet again just for what ever resin folder view wont come back. and no you cant make it a part of your land page for the Samsung TV app or the windows media software. I have tried.

Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 From certain clients/apps true. Folder view is there but just a different location. From a library point of view "Mixed Content" is folder view, but I have no idea how all client/app displays the media information.
utah-dave 5 Posted April 21, 2019 Author Posted April 21, 2019 Its not the same for us. I will take some Photos and upload. But I was really hopping that Folder view would come back to the main screen again as a view option like it did back in 3.0. it was simple and easy to use. The big thing was we put what movies we like into what categories. Such as all the movies that only the kids would watch would go into the folder. A 5 year old dose not get what genres are. Now finding his or hers movie is a task, I sell my customers on that my 5 year old can easily find the movie they want. Now they have to hunt for it like me and you. To be honest the way we had our movies in folders and setup I could get to what we wanted with in three clicks. now we have to at very best, five clicks. Yes it setup more to look and feel like a netflex dose, But we hate loading netflix because it takes so long to get to anything ( so large it clunky) . I take on the web page rule. You need to get to anything with in three clicks or the person will move on from your website if it take to log or to hard to get to what they want. The home entertainment needs to be simple. and you guys have done an awesome job of doing that over the years, that is truth, at the size of our movie collection the folder view was much faster hands down. Now the kids have to go out and round and it takes longer to respond load the movies than inside folder view. It seams to hang on loading the movie listings. Thinking of hanging, more as feed back. when playing a movie in HD or 4k the movie becomes pixelated and repeats it self a few times before moving on. Only during a high action or lots movement and it only happens over wifi. I can give more detail if you like on the side. this is a complete different topic. Back to the folder view instead of complaining, Why was folder view taken away? Maybe if you can help me understand why it was taken away I can get on board. For me and my back ground it dose not seam that hard to have that as an option again. But it could have brought about a heavy support with it that I don't know about, or no one used it but little old odd me.
utah-dave 5 Posted April 22, 2019 Author Posted April 22, 2019 The samsung TV app as well as the Emby theater for windows.
Luke 42077 Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 Ok, what is the issue with the Folders sections under each library?
Luke 42077 Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 the folder view not their. What content types have you created your library with?
