Why is windows phone always connecting to emby server?

I put this here because there doesn't seem t be a windows phone section.  Feel free to move it to a better place.

 

I am working on a channel "reminder" app that will tune to a selected live tv channel at a configured time.  As part of that I was looking through all of the current sessions on my server and was surprised to find an active one to my phone.  I rebooted the phone thinking somehow a connection stayed open, when it came back up it still had an active connection with the current time!

 

Questions:

 

1) Why is my phone connecting automatically to emby server without starting the app on my phone?

 

2) Will it also connect away from home when I am not on wifi?

 

3) Is there a way to disable this behavior?

 

4) What else (all mobile devices for example) will do this by default?

Not at this time. Once we have resolved this, you won't need to.
