MisterAngelus 7 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 I have been playing with Emby's convert option pretty much works flawlessly .. but I notice when the file has a .ass (Sub Station Alpha) .ssa or.ass Emby just ignores the subtitle all together and converts the file I realize it might be difficult to have emby convert the subtitle to .srt and leave it next to the converted file might make the conversion a bit longer.. but would it be possible to have emby extract the (Sub Station Alpha) . file and leave it next to the file rather then just disregarding it
Luke 42083 Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 The convert feature follows your emby user subtitle settings. Since ass/ssa are not streaming friendly subtitle formats, those will actually be burned in by the convert process if configured to do so.
MisterAngelus 7 Posted March 16, 2019 Author Posted March 16, 2019 (edited) Really cool... hmm Where exactly is this setting because I'm looking under users and I'm the only user and all I see is Subtitles Allow subtitle downloading Allow deletion of existing subtitle files Edited March 16, 2019 by MisterAngelus
Luke 42083 Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Click your user icon in the top right. I understand this isn't very obvious. At some point we will get this directly into the conversion dialog.
MisterAngelus 7 Posted March 16, 2019 Author Posted March 16, 2019 ah the subtitle options in the emby web app.. I was looking in the server user settings I don't see an option to extract the ass/ssa file from the video or convert it to .srt and leave it next to the converted file at the moment it just ignores the .ass/ssa file and the converted file has no subtitle file at all not a big deal unless you tell Emby to replace the original after conversion
Luke 42083 Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 not a big deal unless you tell Emby to replace the original after conversion Ah yes good point. This is something that needs review.
