Won't recognize server-- Mediacom is my internet provider

I had the same issue with Plex. When I had Century Link is my internet provider, I could get Plex to work. Now with both Plex and Emby, the server shows up, PIN is entered, but can't connect.

I think it is an issue with Mediacom. Is there anything I can do?

Are you able to setup port forwarding?

Can you walk me how to do that?

I can get into the mediacom router page and port forwarding is an option

Thank you.
What values do I enter in the dialog boxes?

tcp protocol, and 8096 for all of the port fields.

Thank you. Still can't connect. For device, I chose my server and for application I manually entered "Emby". Chose TCP and entered 8096 in all fields. I have installed the app on my Samsung smart TV. It lists my server, but then can't connect.

I know I must be missing something basic. I appreciate your help.

The Samsung is on the same local network as the server, right?

Yes. The only caveat to that is that the mediacom wifi has two separate networks-- one 5G and one slower. As far as I know, both server and TV are on 5G.

The TV and the server are on the same network.

Any other suggestions?

What connection info are you entering into the Samsung app?

I don't understand the question. The app recognizes my server as it listed on the screen, but can't connect. When I installed the app, it automatically recognized my network. I went through the Emby connect screen and entered the PIN, and screen said success. But, cannot connect.

Prior to my switching to Mediacom as my internet provider (CenturyLink was before), I was able to watch dvds through PLEX. I had hoped Emby wouldn't have same issue, but so far it does. I think there is something different with my provider.

Well if this is all on the same local network, then in theory your internet provider should not matter. Are you able to connect to the server from other devices, such as a smart phone?

Installed the app on my phone. The server shows up but can't connect.

What os/platform are you running the server on?

Windows 10 Home

What is the IP of the TV and the In-Home Server IP address?  Your TV and Server IPs should start with something like 192.168 if you're using a local network

Make sure you're using the In-home IP address from the control panel when entering the IP on your TV.  Don't use the other one

OK, call me stupid but I have no idea how to tell what the IP address of the TV (Samsung smart TV) is. Network settings only prompts me to connect, and tells me I am successfully connected. The Emby app on the TV knows the name of my server, it just can't successfully connect. The IP address of the server is as you say.

I forgot to ask, what model TV do you have?  If you got the app version that would help also.

Also, make sure on the server you have this box filled out under the users profile

Emby Connect username or email address:

Samsung 6  series (55 inch)

App version 1.0.44

Also when I when to dashboard and tried connectivity help, it asked for the local address IP address. However, the dashboard doesn't show local access but only remote access.

Appreciate your help.

Do you know the model number?  There should be a plate on the back with that

At the dashboard

1. Click Users

2. Click on your username

3. Profile tab

4. What's under "Emby Connect username or email address:"

Model number is UN55MU650DF

Type number is UN55MU650D

tarheeldoc82 is under emby connect username or email address.

Again, thanks.
