Bazzu85 22 Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 Hi all, as title I have some files (mkv with srt inside in my case) with subs with "\an8" tag inside wich means to place the text on top of the screen.. here's an example: 26 00:01:26,941 --> 00:01:28,149 {\an8}12 ORE PRIMA I tried it with: -emby for fire tv: the subs are displayed like this: "{\an8}12 ORE PRIMA" in the bottom -browser: "12 ORE PRIMA" in the bottom here's another similar discussion: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/35465-positioned-srt-subtitles-not-displaying-at-correct-position/?hl=an8 I think there's something to fix..
Luke 42078 Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 Hi there, let's go over an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !

Luke 42078 Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 Can you provide a sample video for testing? Thanks.
Bazzu85 22 Posted March 11, 2019 Author Posted March 11, 2019 Can you provide a sample video for testing? Thanks. the issue is easly reproducible.. just make a .srt file with this inside: 01 00:00:05,000 --> 00:00:10,000 {\an8}UPPER SUB TEST and attach to a video..
Bazzu85 22 Posted March 12, 2019 Author Posted March 12, 2019 What Emby app are you testing with? I tested it with: -Emby for android -Emby from web browser (chrome) -Emby for fire stick 1
Carlo 4561 Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 I don't think Emby is respecting this tag properly as I just tested this using an external SRT I modified.
Luke 42078 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 The problem is that browsers do not support SRT subtitles, they support webvtt. We use ffmpeg to convert the subtitles from srt to vtt and during this process the positioning is lost. webvtt does support positioning, so the ffmpeg conversion process would need to be improved in order to accomplish this.

Luke 42078 Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 It will vary per app, it just depends on what the video player supports. What apps are you curious about? With android, iOS and Emby Theater desktop i would expect this will be supported.

Bazzu85 22 Posted March 20, 2019 Author Posted March 20, 2019 This should work on both already. I tried on android mobile and it works! thx!
