Play Quietly - playback without the history

When

  • performing media management, spot checking media
  • referring back to older media including music shows

i typically resort to playing media outside of emby so as to not infect "continue watching, next up and trakt history", but that is not possible on the tv and other clients, and a hassle when the web client is there ready to go.

would be useful if a "play quietly" command could be added to the ... (three dot) menu, that could suppress the monitoring  temporarily.

"quietly" may not be be the best phrase,

alternatively it could be a toggle on the interface/user profile..like web browser "private browsing" where no history is maintained.

Any one else out there that would make use of this?

You want an "Incognito Mode"...  Interesting idea.

This would mesh with a similar request to create a "guest" user that operates this way all the time.

Why?

You can always mark the item unwatched afterwards.

There are still affects based on last played date.  For instance, that series would come to the front of "Next Up".

A better solution right now would be to use a "dummy" user for these operations.

Is that not a bug!

No, it is not.

No, it is not.

So it's by design

Correct.  We show Next Up in the order of last playback.  But all of this is not really relevant to this request.

Never agreed with the way that works.

It's just too arcane.

creating a guest user is a good idea didnt think of that....its a good work around..not quite as slick as "incognito mode" but will give it a go.

is their a way to create a url shortcut that would log me in a guest user? eg with the username and password already present in url for ease of launch and switching between real and guest.
