The_ERROR 4 Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 Hi, time to time, I do have problem, that playing stoped (when video is transcoded). It behave as no data in cache during youtube playing, but it stopped and never loads until full refresh. I have webserver proxy using lighttpd with SSL cert in it, which proxy to local network where is NAS with container in it, where Emby is running. So yes, little bit more stuff on the path, where shit could happen, but I didn't find any problem o chain and maybe you can somehow help me, to fix it. The trafic itself seems passign without problem, the browser trying to request data, but get nothing with 204 HTTP errror. See the logs. On bottom is snap of request and response headers from browser. Any hint, what could be wrong?
Luke 42078 Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 Hi there, can we please look at an example? Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
Luke 42078 Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Hi, this is only a small snippet. Can you please attach the complete emby server log, and ffmpeg log if there was one? Also, a 204 response code is not an error. Why do you feel that's an error?
The_ERROR 4 Posted March 27, 2019 Author Posted March 27, 2019 (edited) Also, a 204 response code is not an error. Why do you feel that's an error? Because after stop, there is only those 204 empty request and I have to refresh browser, to start playback again. Here are logs of emby server, ffmepg and part of accesslog from proxy proxy-accesslog.log emby-server.log ffmpeg.log Edited March 27, 2019 by The_ERROR
Luke 42078 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 As a test, can you try disabling the server transcoding throttle feature, under server transcoding settings? thanks.
The_ERROR 4 Posted March 28, 2019 Author Posted March 28, 2019 seems, that disabling throttling doesn't have any efect

Luke 42078 Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 @@The_ERROR are you still running into this issue?
The_ERROR 4 Posted March 31, 2019 Author Posted March 31, 2019 Yes, still. Not so often right now, but still happening.
Luke 42078 Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 How does it compare on the local network where it bypasses the proxy i would assume?
The_ERROR 4 Posted April 2, 2019 Author Posted April 2, 2019 As I'm using DNS name, it's goes always using the proxy, actually But, I would try to locally, if it will make any change...
The_ERROR 4 Posted April 4, 2019 Author Posted April 4, 2019 (edited) Doesn't help too much Seems, that problem is on some kind termination of stream. Not sure, if it's because of some delay or something, but there is always missing the grey part. Problem is, when it hits the end (preloaded data), it just won't continue and I have to reload whole video. It should maybe pause, wait for data and continue, but it doesn't happen. It doesn't happen on manual running, but when I watching one episode after another (automatically plays next), let's say, at least every 3rd or 4th will stop somewhere. Some time earlier, some time later. Edited April 4, 2019 by The_ERROR
Luke 42078 Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 Did it happen in the local network without the proxy?
The_ERROR 4 Posted April 4, 2019 Author Posted April 4, 2019 Did it happen in the local network without the proxy? yes, it does.
Luke 42078 Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Can you try with some other kind of input besides an avi file? Thanks.
The_ERROR 4 Posted April 5, 2019 Author Posted April 5, 2019 well, seems it's somehow related to decoding. If it could be streamed directly, I didn't notice, such problems. Only in case of preprocessing.
The_ERROR 4 Posted April 6, 2019 Author Posted April 6, 2019 well, just downloaded some corrupted mkv, which is stopping and makes problem a lot on first severals min. Some times it stops, some time the picture is freezed, sound contine and and after some time it "blends" video together and switch to actual video (maybe after some keyframe). The plex is playing it without any issue, however, same for VLC ex. Seems, that Emby do have less failure tolerance to somehow broken videos...
The_ERROR 4 Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 That is actually question... the mkvalidaro didn't say too much. The only difference I found between working one and problematic one mkv, was this line: ERR00C: Unknown element in Video [55][b0] at 505 (size 8 total 11)
Luke 42078 Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Can you provide a sample video for testing? thanks.
The_ERROR 4 Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 (edited) I'm not sure, that I wouldn't fix it by cutting... will try. Anyway, one episode of TV Series NCIS, avi about 350MB it stops at 8s (but work fine in plex). And 350MB is not so big to try. About mkv, I'll try to cut the mkv with ffmepg using copy and will check if problems persists. Dropbox avi episode link [will expire in 3 days] Edited April 7, 2019 by The_ERROR
The_ERROR 4 Posted April 8, 2019 Author Posted April 8, 2019 Well, seems that cutting the mkv using ffmpeg solved the issue So i would guess it have something to do with container, as stream itself was copied. About avi, it's even more strange - from 6 plays - two times topped on same place, 3 on random one and once it ended at the end of gray progress bar. Annoying.
