Phone becomes too slow when screen locks while playing some song

I have a Redmi 3s and have noticed that the phone becomes dead slow and literally crawls when it locks and emby is still playing music in the background. Here is what happens. I launch emby, select some music to play. Its all good. I can navigate the phone pretty well. No problems. Now when I lock the phone or the phone locks itself, then unlocking the phone becomes almost impossible.The phone just becomes dead slow. This only seems to happen when emby plays some music in the background. If I leave emby running in the background, and not playing music, this doesnt happen. Has anyone else come across this? Seems might strange to me.

I installed the app 3-4 days back from the Play Store.There does not seem to be a way to check the version of the app from within the app!
