One2Go 120 Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 I have two Emby servers running one on a Windows machine the other on a QNAP NAS. both boxes have different IP addresses. The Windows one end in 31 and the QNAP ends in 18, static assigned. From the Android app can connect internally to both servers, but from the outside I can only connect to the Windows one. Selecting the QNAP from the Android app will time out. Little research showed that the Router has port forwarded 8096 to ONLY the Windows PC ending in 31. When trying to setup an additional port forward rule the router complains that the port 8096 is already forwarded. Since I can select the server from the Android app, Is there a way to connect to the QNAP box AND at a different time to the Windows server? Or is there a way to port forward in the router the port 8096 to two different IP addresses? Thanks O2G
CBers 7474 Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 No, you'll have to change the port on the 2nd server and set up a new port forwarding rule. I have the same setup.
mastrmind11 722 Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 Yeah, pick a different port than 8096 for your other server... 8097 or whatever, and forward that to the other server. Then when you connect externally, specify 8097.
One2Go 120 Posted March 3, 2019 Author Posted March 3, 2019 Thanks after changing the port to 8097 and restarting the server I can now log in from my Android phone. Do you use the https port 8920? Is it worthwhile to set up the https configuration and what is involved in doing so if it is worth the effort?

Reverse proxy is probably what you should be looking into as well, since multiple servers w/ distinct exposed ports is kind of a noobish setup. A RP would allow you to have multiple endpoints all controlled by the proxy, with a single port exposed to the outside.
Typey1 0 Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 (edited) I am having trouble with remote access to my emby server on my qnap NAS, where should I port forward 8096 to? Is it the lan IP of the Nas that Emby is on. thanks Edited February 15, 2020 by Typey1

Typey1 0 Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 Hi Luke, I worked out why I couldn't access emby remotely from my android phone data connection. Emby I have on my qnap Nas, I have a whitelist of selected IPS that are only allowed to connect and my issue was here, when I found the phones wan IP with WiFi connections OFF and added that IP to my whitelist I was able to access server. It makes sense now but was a major headache, cheers
