BrettDioson 4 Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 The transcoding of videos with dark scenes isn’t very good by default (dark scenes have a lot of artifacts). Is there any way to add command line options for when files are transcoded? I see the crf and encode preset options in transcode but don’t see a way to add something like --aq-mode 3 as an option.
BrettDioson 4 Posted February 27, 2019 Author Posted February 27, 2019 (edited) no, its 8 bit. sorry, i should have also said i have the Preset at “slower” and CRF at 20. Edited February 27, 2019 by BrettDioson
Carlo 4561 Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 What is the source format and bitrate of the original files and what are your transcoding it to (resolution/bitrate)? Could you provide a MediaInfo text file of one of the source media files with this issue?
BrettDioson 4 Posted February 27, 2019 Author Posted February 27, 2019 (edited) Actually the image issue may have been a graphics driver and config issue on my side. my monitor is an HDR monitor but not a very good one apparently and was not playing nice with my NVidia drivers. I just updated the drivers and turned off HDR and the artifacts are no longer there (or at least minimized). Still, a command line option for adding arguments for ffmpeg when transcoding may be helpful in the future. Here is the media info of one of the files I was playing: Media Info Video Title720p HEVCCodecHEVCProfileMainLevel93Resolution1280x718Aspect ratio16:9AnamorphicNoInterlacedNoFramerate23.976Bitrate633 kbpsPixel formatyuv420pRef frames1 Audio TitleAAC stereo DefaultCodecAACProfileLCLayoutstereoChannels2 chBitrate192 kbpsSample rate48,000 HzDefaultYes Containermkv PathE:\Users\Public\Videos\TV Series Kids\Supergirl\Season 4\Supergirl - S04E07 - Rather the Fallen Angel.mkv Size191 MB Edited February 27, 2019 by BrettDioson
