BenDover 3 Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Guys, Previous to Server 4.0.2 all of my movies were in collections. IE. I had a folder called Fast and Furious Collection which had all the movies in their own individual folders. Now, each movie is set to the root folder (movies library) and its ignoring the collections. Did something change that I missed? Thanks The Fast and Furious Collection [boxset]\Fast & Furious \2 Fast 2 Furious etc.
ebr 16184 Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Hi. That convention for collections was deprecated a long time ago. What app are you using and how is your library setup?

I'm seeing the same thing in both the web app from the browser and from emby for WMC. Is there a way to get it into collections like previously? I'm wondering why it still worked until now then?
Luke 42079 Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Yes, you can create a collection. To learn more, please check out our collections wiki: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Collections Thanks.

Web client - Either the Folders tab (per library) or use the Auto Boxset plugin and enable "Group items into collections" per library (three dot menu next to filters). 1
CChris 59 Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Is there a way to save images from emby as jpg?by default, they have a jfif file ending - and when I'm trying to assign an image as mentionend as in the documentation (copy url, paste in the explorer window) - then, my chrome browser is instantly crashing... Using Firefox, nothing happens... no crash, but also no image will be inserted.

How about a specific example. Are you saying your source file is "jfif"? Edited February 25, 2019 by Happy2Play

CChris 59 Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 (edited) I'm trying to save an image from an actor or a cover image from my emby webserver / web app.Using Chrome, it will be saved as *.jfif - and needs to be converted to jpg before it can be imported again. All I wanted to try was the part written in the documentation: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Collections where you can import an image from a web address... (but I wanted to use the Image, which is already in use by emby)Then chrome crashed. Then, I wanted to save the image first, and noticed, that it will be saved in this strange format.( I have already seen this format several times, while trying to collect some CD cover images from different sources in the web)Wiki:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JPEG_File_Interchange_Format Edited February 25, 2019 by CChris
Luke 42079 Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 On the detail screen of a video i am able to right click and select open image in new tab, and then i save and get a regular image file. but yes the format will vary per browser.
CChris 59 Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Ok, I have tried to use an image of an actor... maybe, since the image source is another here... ?!
Luke 42079 Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 Sorry I don't quite understand what you're asking. Can you elaborate?
CChris 59 Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 doesn't matter. was just a thought of mine. You wrote, that you could get a regular image file on the detail screen of a video... and I just mentioned, that I have tried to save an image from the actors page. But the source of this image is imbd as far as I know, so this might be a reason why I got the file as jfif... just ignore it.What I want to say is, that in some situations the way mentioned in the documentation on how to save an image for a manually created collection might not work... Depending on the image type, the source - and as I could see the used browser.Maybe, what you should wirte down somewhere:Image types which cannot imported are: *.jfifEven if you download an image which has this file type, it can't be imported into emby and needs to be converted into jpg first. Using the method mentioned in the documentation is causing chrome to crash, if the file type is not jpg f.e.In Firefox just nothing happens...In my opinion, it is not directly an issue with emby - but it might cause frustrations for some users if they try to follow the steps and their browser is suddenly crashing
Luke 42079 Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 Thanks for the feedback. I'll see if I can reproduce chrome wanting to save in that format.
Carlo 4561 Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 I just do a right click on an image in Chrome then select "save image as" and it always give me gif, jpg, png or whatever the source image was. For example in Chrome try right clicking on Luke's "Bazinga!" image and see what you get. For me it's going to use jpeg file type. If you get something else I would investigate what browser addons/extensions you have installed.
CChris 59 Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 stop wasting time on this 1) I haven't installed any specific addons... maybe, my AV (Bitdefender) has some addons, but I have deactivated those.2) *.jfif is - from what I found out, also a jpeg file format -- see the linked wikipedia article some posts above.3) just for your refference:

Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 (edited) Appears to be a system setup. (Windows issue) https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/af0azy/windows_10_had_been_saving_nearly_every_image_as/ So the question is should this be added as a supported extension? Or make a note of supported extentions? If you try to upload a jfif Emby throws this error. 2019-02-27 09:14:58.159 Error HttpServer: Error processing request *** Error Report *** Version: 4.1.0.10 Command line: C:\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll Operating system: Microsoft Windows NT 6.2.9200.0 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True User Interactive: True Processor count: 12 Program data path: C:\Emby-Server\programdata Application directory: C:\Emby-Server\system System.ArgumentException: System.ArgumentException: Unable to determine image file extension from mime type image/jfif at MediaBrowser.Providers.Manager.ImageSaver.GetStandardSavePath(BaseItem item, ImageType type, Nullable`1 imageIndex, String mimeType, Boolean saveLocally) at MediaBrowser.Providers.Manager.ImageSaver.GetSavePaths(BaseItem item, ImageType type, Nullable`1 imageIndex, String mimeType, Boolean saveLocally) at MediaBrowser.Providers.Manager.ImageSaver.SaveImage(BaseItem item, LibraryOptions libraryOptions, Stream source, String mimeType, ImageType type, Nullable`1 imageIndex, Nullable`1 saveLocallyWithMedia, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at MediaBrowser.Api.Images.ImageService.PostImage(BaseItem entity, Stream inputStream, ImageType imageType, String mimeType) at Emby.Server.Implementations.Services.ServiceExecGeneral.GetTaskResult(Task task) at Emby.Server.Implementations.Services.ServiceHandler.ProcessRequestAsync(HttpListenerHost appHost, IRequest httpReq, IResponse httpRes, ILogger logger, String operationName, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at Emby.Server.Implementations.HttpServer.HttpListenerHost.RequestHandler(IRequest httpReq, String urlString, String host, String localPath, CancellationToken cancellationToken) Source: MediaBrowser.Providers TargetSite: System.String GetStandardSavePath(MediaBrowser.Controller.Entities.BaseItem, MediaBrowser.Model.Entities.ImageType, System.Nullable`1[System.Int32], System.String, Boolean) Edited February 27, 2019 by Happy2Play
Luke 42079 Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 Not sure. We have to make sure our image processing libraries can handle that format across all possible platforms.
CChris 59 Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 (edited) god damn... thanks for the information From my point of view, since jfif is a type of jpeg image, emby should be able to handle it - but if not, I would also be fine with it, because it should not appear that often. But I'm glad that you figured out that this could be changed within the windows registry... --> funfact: the Reg-Key mentioned in the Reddit post is already set to the correct extension... I will continue with my investigations into this later today. Edited February 27, 2019 by CChris
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 (edited) Edit 2: The same procedure with Firefox I get the same on this one. But this is a system/browser issue not a Emby issue. If you really want to change it go to about:config and change "image.http.accept" to "image/jpg,*/*" or use the drop down change Save as Type to all files and put what ever extension you like on the file. CChris 59 Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 Finally found the "issue" with the jfif file. The RegEdit mentioned in your previous post was OK - but it is still set to jfif in the HKEY_USERS\{SID}_Classes\MIME\Database\Content Type\image/jpeg/ node...So if there are further questions around this... this might help 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 Other topics mention the possible user issue. https://www.reddit.com/r/chrome/comments/6d8zli/saving_jpeg_files_as_jfif_automatically_which/
