You could use the cinema mode to play a specific video or random video from a folder (I think) prior to each movie or episode starting

Yess, you can!! As Spaceboy said, you should most definitely use the cinema mode. You can play a video from your album, but it took me a while to figure it out how to do so cause I'm not that good with technology and I'm pretty new to Emby. I got my account a month ago, so bear with me lol. If you don't manage to do it by yourself, I will ask her for the instructions and will come back to you. Just let me know!!
