agreed, shouldn't be that hard, as basically all streaming services have those, i think putting small (yet clear) icons on the same line where ratings are should look really good

Hi, yes the problem is we also show it in plain text in the track selection box and I think ideally we’d like to avoid the bloat of duplicating just for the sake of showing an image.

hello @Lukevery good point! (didn't think about this tbh), but here, there might be 2 solutions:

1- one of the main strenghts of Emby is customizability, so, you can let people choose, either they keep it as it is now, or, in the audio track dropdown menu it shows only the language of the track and there are the icons (to avoid redundancy for the sake of esthetics, sacrificing a bit of practicality when choosing track, i think many people would like it), or showing both, if people want to (for video, it's not a problem, just show the icons, no text)

2- the ideal solution according to me, but i don't know if it's feasable, the dropdown menu shows only the language of the selected track, and shows the icons for info, but when clicking on it to choose the track, it shows the plain text so people see the info of the track they will put, and here there is no real redundancy i think and it should look good

another idea about the same subject, is it possible to make it show Atmos and DTS:X logo when the audio track title has the word Atmos or DTS:X (as most atmos tracks have it mentioned in the track name, and anyway, it would work well with the Media Toolbox plugin)

hey both very good as far as I understand your suggestions. 

the reason I brought that up again and again is the missing dts x atmos info in emby standard.

I know have a plug in for it you can search MediaInfo and hopefully you are better with it then I am it's not completely easy if you are running emby in a docker.

I also have an overlay on poster / cases but only dv and you cannot really see it  

I think Icons for ratio, resolution, hrd, Sound, codec, Bitrate and if you want language and whatever more somewhere on the movie info page is long overdue. every app / solution / provider I know has that.

as written, atmos and auro 3d launch now 10 years. 

1. not so relevant where. bottom line overlay on fanart is perfect I guess. 

and surely having then duplicate info in track and video track choose drop down menu is 100% completely irrelevant imo.

there will be no emby soul on earth complaining about that?!! and if you tell them to programs their own solution

in my set up I don't have a device in which I can read the whole lines without clicking it 

I would think it's much more important that icons will change with choosing another sound / video track that would be a nice show 

edit: Hz! and don't take a 24hz for 23.9 hz content like my denon avr that's xxx

the plugin is Media Toolbox, and it works very well

"overlay on fanart is perfect I guess." well, i disagree, it ruins the image i think, better to have icons on a reserved place

"no emby soul on earth complaining about that", yes, as there will be the option to enable it or not in my first solution, if you don't like it just disable it

sure I only started it on cover because I hadn't anything before. that cover overlay is anyway completely on off as you like... 

maybe the info from the mediainfo Plugin could be used for icons, I have no clue, and I don't care where they are coming from

but then it has to be fully integrated on server level for everyone otherwise it's not fair. not everyone will be able to implement to addon. on my side it was very tight

where the info is coming from is the whole point (practicality)

the problem is that they are not willing to use mediainfo (for either legal, financial or technical reasons, dunno), so the solution might be to check the emedded track name (as  most have atmos mentioned, not ideal but better than nothing  )

and this is not even the point, we are talking about icons in general, and if they are shown and the drop menu only shows languange unless you click on it to choose is a viable solution, and will look better than now with a lot of writing (and as you said in most cases, it is cropped)

I'm out with all the technical stuff, really no clue.

but from a design perspective, as an amateur, I don't see any issue here with dublicate info or the overall approach. this is kindergarten. I know people who could draft 3 different views in 2h, and all of them would look great  

but they are expensive maybe 2500 eur a day.. 

I have no clue why its not there already for 5 years but it's also not so important for me that I would pay extra bugs like I would for some other things. hmm, or maybe I would
