Keep separate Live TV sources...separate?

One power of Emby is you can organize your movies and tv shows into separate sections if you want. You just create a second movie or tv show collection. That allows you to have something like "Action Movies" and "Wifes Boring Movies". Could we do the same thing for Live TV sources?

Imagine if one source was US and one was UK? Could even be broken down more like Music or Kids.

In theory it's possible, but it's never come up before so my belief is that most don't want that.

You might be right. My guess is most IPTV users just had to make the switch to android tv or some other platform that supports the categorization better. Right out of the box all of the android IPTV apps let you drill down into separate categories: US, UK, regional, sports, music, etc. I don't really want to switch away from Roku and have been trying to make Emby work.

In fact, a popular recent request is for exactly the opposite of this with IPTV tuners.

Would the ability to group channels do the same thing for you...?

Yes, that's all the categorization is, the m3u files already have a tag for it called group-title which Emby is using in a limited capacity for sports, movies, kids, news.

However, once you get over to the guide (on roku) all that organization is almost totally gone. On the web you can click the 3 dots and uncheck/check category boxes. On roku you don't even get that.

I think what they are looking for is support for is group support in the m3u, like:       group-title="Sports"

Oh i just noticed he said that above...   Well,   maybe better support these groups in the guide would help... I see the settings for them in the xmltv settings but never saw an example of what those categories do in emby.

Maybe Like a separator bar or row that replaces a channel line to show you are moving on to a new group.  Kind of how DirecTv does their advertisements mid guide.
