Auto select lower bit-rate movie when transcoding

I have alot of 4k HEVC movies and always make a lower bit-rate move for transcoding (since when live transcoding my nas start screaming bloody murder), I have to keep reminding ppl over and over, if you see that its show a 4k movie, use the lower bit-rate 1080p one. would love to see a option that i can enable that will force the user to use the lower bitrate one if server detects that there is a lower bitrate of the movie someone is trying to play and it has to transcode the video. (bonus points if i can enable this option per user)

they are H.264

1080p H.264=~18k bitrate

4k hevc=~56k bitrate

hmm, now that i think about it more and had my coffee, maybe a option that force the use of H.254, when trying to play a HEVC movie that has a H.254 copy of the same move. Since most nas dont support native hardware HEVC transcoding.

Ok we don't have a way of forcing it to pick the lower version, although if you want to ban all transcoding for a user you can do that in user permissions.

Sometimes the lower version will get picked automatically, it just depends on the quality settings in the app, server settings, etc. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !
