Okeur75 7 Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Hi guys, I was playing with some movies on my phone (Samsung A3 SM-A320FL, Emby 3.0.35) and I realized that the "auto" parameter seems to rely only on the bandwidth but not on the device ability to read the content itself. Currently, if I'm playing a 4K-HEVC movie from Emby on the phone, with the settings set to Auto, it will generally give it to me in 4K-60Mbps, or 4K-40Mbps. But this phone cannot play 4K movie, images are jerky, and not because of the transcoding (which runs at 100fps) or the network bandwidth (since I can play 1080p movies at 60Mbps). If I'm playing a 1080p-H265 movie, it will give it to me as "direct" and it will be playable. So the issue is not the codec but the resolution if I can say so. I'm not really sure if the issue is on the app side or on the server side. I can provide logs if needed.
Luke 42079 Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Hi, yes this is true, it's something we can look at improving in the future. For now I would suggest lowering the quality value manually. Thanks.

Luke 42079 Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 I will move this to feature requests and adjust the title. Thanks.
