Epricesc 0 Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 So after the the 4.0 update last month about 20 albums in my music collection had their artist name changed to an incorrect artist "AFI". I've tried updating and refreshing the metadata but nothing will correct itself. I initially tagged the albums with musicbrainz and they are organized in a /artist/album/song folder system. When inspecting the metadata the musicbrainz ID is correct and links to the correct album info and the folder path is correct. The album art, album name, and music files are all correct. It's only the artist name. It's killing my perfect metadata OCDness, please help!
Luke 42078 Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 Hi there, can you please go over an example? thanks.
Epricesc 0 Posted March 19, 2019 Author Posted March 19, 2019 I was playing around with this again and loaded another copy of my music into the emby file folders. It got worse. It appears only one band name, "AFI" in my case, is showing up as the album artist for a random amount of albums. What's odd that the two identical copies have this issue for different albums. Some new, some very old. The issue for some of them seems to be the musicbrainz link is getting cropped/edited to something like this "usicBrainz Release Group Id".
Luke 42078 Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Hi @@Epricesc, this will be improved with the upcoming Emby Server 4.1 release. Thanks !
Epricesc 0 Posted April 8, 2019 Author Posted April 8, 2019 Hi @@Epricesc, this will be improved with the upcoming Emby Server 4.1 release. Thanks ! Thank you! would you recommend a fresh copy of the music folder after the update?
Epricesc 0 Posted May 3, 2019 Author Posted May 3, 2019 after the update and multiple fresh music folder installs I'm still getting a decent portion of "usicBrainz Release Group Id" metadata tags. Any tips or ideas of how to solve or work around this? All my music loads fine in other players and has embedded metadata via musicbrainz
Luke 42078 Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 The issue for some of them seems to be the musicbrainz link is getting cropped/edited to something like this "usicBrainz Release Group Id". Where exactly is this happening?
Epricesc 0 Posted May 3, 2019 Author Posted May 3, 2019 the impacted ones have issues under the External Ids: "usicBrainz Album Id" for MusicBrainz Album Id: "usicBrainz Album Artist Id" for MusicBrainz Album Artist Id: "usicBrainz Release Group Id" for MusicBrainz Release Group Id: theAudioDb lines are blank but other sections like title and date added are populated correctly. The odd thing is that it's different albums when I reload the music directory. This last time it synced all the problem metadata to another band that started with an "A" I tried re-uploading with and without the metadata scans checked and saw no difference.
Luke 42078 Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 How are you determining that? can you show a screenshot? thanks.
Epricesc 0 Posted May 3, 2019 Author Posted May 3, 2019 Notice the amount of "A Wilhelm Scream" artists. Those albums are not correct
Luke 42078 Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Well I don't know how those values got there, but those should be music brainz id's, not that text. Do you have album nfo files?
Luke 42078 Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Where did they come from? Can you provide one as an example? Thanks.
Epricesc 0 Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 They first appeared after I did a clean install of emby after the big 4.0 update. I never had this issue before. When I reload/recreate the music folder they show up right after the initial sync, usually some if not all are different albums that are having the problem.
Luke 42078 Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 Can you try deleting one of the album nfo files, and then refreshing metadata on it? Thanks.
