delete rogue orphaned media

Recommended Posts

I added a music video to my music video folder, EMBY tried to create meta data for it.  It matched to the wrong music video data, but it also failed to create a path to the stored media.  Now I have an entry that has no media path and I cannot delete it, as it doesn't display an option to delete the entry in EMBY.

How do I delete this rogue media entry in my library?

Try refreshing metadata on the parent folder.

Try refreshing metadata on the parent folder.

How would I go about this?  For the entry in the front end, I've selected Refresh metadata and replace all metadata and had no luck.

At the library level I don't have that option, at the Metadata Manager level I can't seem to find that option either.

From the library in library setup.

I cannot find a "refresh metadata" option at the library setup level of EMBY for the parent folder.

Have you explored the scan library option?

Yes, I've tried the various options in there from replacing all metadata, to refreshing it.

Ok a couple others have reported the no path thing. I am not sure how it is happening yet but looking into it. Thanks.

Yes, I posted in one of those previous threads.

So there is not way to delete this rogue entry?   It will no longer populate, create a valid entry, when I've tried to add in the same named file now.

Any further progress on this?   I cannot add new content to library type "Music Videos", as it just creates these rogue entries that cannot be played or deleted.

Not yet, sorry.

How can I access the actual EMBY database to manually delete and/or correct missing path data?!   I asked how others are adding their Music Videos, but you deleted that question in another thread.   Just tell me what I'm supposed to do, to drop a Music Video mp4 file in my library and have it correctly populate with META data so it can play.

You'd have to open it up in a sqlite viewer and delete rows from the MediaItems table. My suggestion would be to try removing the music library from your libraries, run a full library scan to clear it out, then add it back.
