TStephens 0 Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 (edited) I am running the latest Emby server on Windows 10 Pro Version 1809. The setup went fine but I am having several problems. 1. The dashboard is showing the IPV6 address for my machine. I have disabled IPV6 in control panel, restarted the server but nothing has changed 2. I loaded the Android app onto a tablet on the same network (Lan) The initial screen on the tablet shows the server machine but when I try to connect I get "We're unable to connect to the selected server right now etc". 3. When I try to play any TV show I get "Play Back Error No compatible streams are currently available" Any more info I can give to help fix these problems please ask. Many Thanks Edited February 13, 2019 by TStephens
akawoz 13 Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 IPv6 - have you tried Bind to local network address in Advanced in the Dashboard? Enter your IPv4 address only in this field. 1
TStephens 0 Posted February 14, 2019 Author Posted February 14, 2019 IPv6 - have you tried Bind to local network address in Advanced in the Dashboard? Enter your IPv4 address only in this field. Thanks for your reply , tried your suggestion but no improvement. One strange thing is if I put the IPV4 address in a browser on another machine I get a blank screen , no error message!
Angus Black 5 Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 (edited) @@TStephens Try this; Go to the Dashboard. Scroll down to Expert / Advanced Put the local IPv4 address, for your Emby server, in the Bind to local network address: box. Edited February 14, 2019 by Angus Black
miniliQuid 94 Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 Just to be sure that all the basics are in order: 1. If you use wifi on server check if you have that connection set to private in windows 10 network settings. 2. Check the windows 10 defender (firewall) settings for emby server to have access. Not sure if you have remote access to the machine, if not you might wanna check these, if you do this is probably configured already.
TStephens 0 Posted February 14, 2019 Author Posted February 14, 2019 Thanks for your replies, have set the Bind to local network address: box. with the IPV4 address , this does not fix the problem. In fact it now does not show the local Lan address but only "Running on HTTP port 8096" only. The other interesting thing is One strange thing is if I put the IPV4 address in a browser on the server or another machine I get a blank screen , no error message! If I can do anything to help, like screen shots please ask. Thanks
Angus Black 5 Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 What happens if you enter 127.0.0.1:8096 in the browser of your Emby server machine?
TStephens 0 Posted February 14, 2019 Author Posted February 14, 2019 What happens if you enter 127.0.0.1:8096 in the browser of your Emby server machine? Same as the other machine and on the server when I put in its IPV4 address, IE I just get a blank screen with no error message
Angus Black 5 Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 Wow, that's odd. It seems to be more of a problem than just connecting to Emby. Is this a new Windows 10 install with no adware or viruses? Rebooted the PC after changing the IPv6 settings?
TStephens 0 Posted February 14, 2019 Author Posted February 14, 2019 Wow, that's odd. It seems to be more of a problem than just connecting to Emby. Is this a new Windows 10 install with no adware or viruses? Rebooted the PC after changing the IPv6 settings? Thanks for your quick response. The Emby service machine is running Win 10 Version 1809 Build 17763.316. It is running the paid version of Malwarebytes ( ie Always on Protection) as well as Windows Defender so I don't think that there any viruses. There are 2 strange things:- 1,. The Emby machine also runs Plex and there are no problems accessing this across the LAN 2. I tested Emby on another machine (Same version of Win 10) and was having the same problems there, thats why I moved it to its present location. Thanks again
Angus Black 5 Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 Oh, that is strange. I've got Emby and Plex on the same machine and it works great. I think someone more familiar with the inner workings of Emby is going to have to answer this. Did you try changing the default port that Emby uses? It's in the Advanced settings.
Luke 42080 Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 Same as the other machine and on the server when I put in its IPV4 address, IE I just get a blank screen with no error message I would try Microsoft Edge or Chrome instead of IE.

Very many thanks, problem solved by changing the default port!
Angus Black 5 Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 That's great. There must be something else using the default Emby port.
TStephens 0 Posted February 15, 2019 Author Posted February 15, 2019 That's great. There must be something else using the default Emby port. I'm sure I checked and it seems strange that it happened on 2 separate machines! But never mind all is well including access from an Android tablet. Many thanks again. Regards Tony Stephens
Luke 42080 Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 If there is other software using the default port, you can find out what that is by following these procedures here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/48198/how-can-you-find-out-which-process-is-listening-on-a-port-on-windows

TStephens 0 Posted February 17, 2019 Author Posted February 17, 2019 Did you run it to find out the answer? Yes, it showed that it was an application called Diskboss that was using port 8096 and that this app was on both machines that I tried Emby
