worthmo 12 Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 NFO reading is the only thing enabled. Attached is a copy of how media companion creates NFO files for multi-episodes. Paw Patrol S07E01E02.nfo

Paw Patrol S07E01E02.nfo 9.36 kB · 0 downloads That NFO is not formatted correctly, as <episodedetails> tag should be top-level tag, as opposed to <multiepisodenfo> in example NFO. As <multiepisodenfo></multiepisodenfo>is unknown tag, anything contained within that node is not being read. You either need to disable writing of said tag in Media Companion (if feasible, not using it so wouldn't know) or use an alternate software. Edited March 4, 2024 by GrimReaper 1

When was <multiepisodenfo> node added? But does not follow the Kodi standards per their kb though. So this would be another required change if this is added. @Luke 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 Follow up removing the <multiepisodenfo> node.

Searching the kodi codebase yields no results and also found this: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/issues/16506 Granted, it's always possible that it's supported in kodi but the code is somewhere else for it.
sydlexius 297 Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 At least Media Companion took a stab at making an XML file more compliant by having only a unique root node for that...better than the garbage cooked up by whoever is responsible for that XBMC/Kodi mess. Still, thank you @Lukefor making something bug-compatible

worthmo 12 Posted March 6, 2024 Posted March 6, 2024 This was the response from the media companion discussion. I see Kodi has set that multi-episode data in a nfo be contained in repetitive \< episodedetails> tags but this causes xml syntax error of: XML Parsing Error - Only one top level element is allowed in an XML document But Kodi also supports the original method of wrapping \< episodedetails> tag within the \< multiepisodenfo> tag, still allowing for legitimate XML file. Media Companion still uses the \< multiepisodenfo> tag as this does not break the xml file making it impossible to load. As this works for Media Companion, and for Kodi, there is no reason to make any changes to MC's current method of writing multi episode nfo's
Embodiment 28 Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 I am reading this thread with great interest. I have three grandchildren and so I have recorded several cartoons that are multi-episode in one file. I likewise have been using Media Companion and Kodi (looking at Emby Premium seriously at this point). From what I am seeing on this thread, multi episodes are not handled as cleanly as Kodi does. Screen shots below will show that with the file names in this fashion, both Media Companion and Kodi list each individual episode separately rather than listing them as merged (pictures above my post). I like how Kodi and Media Companion list them personally. See below.

The nfo is processed cleanly, but the data is just merged, and then when it comes time to save the nfo, the server will attempt to split it back apart.
Embodiment 28 Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 But you do see the difference between Kodi's breakdown and Emby?
Embodiment 28 Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 It would be more helpful to see each episode listed individually instead of 1-5 merged. Not a show stopper. Just an observation as I look the the differences. 1
