It's amazing the amount of time and work people put into these types of builds, it really does become a work of art.

trifleneurotic 63 Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 (edited) Really don't have a "home theater" setup in the living room, just a Samsung curved TV with Bose SoundTouch 120. And my rig isn't fancy whatsoever either It is an old Linux box I built that now has a new lease on life. I do manual media backups to a couple of WD external HDs. My HTPC runs Fedora 21, and is connected to a Calix GigaCenter 844G via Gigabit Ethernet out in the garage where the GigaCenter is. HTPC specs below. I know there are other things I could do to improve my setup, such as automated backup and sync, further optimization of media (most of mine are ripped or converted with HandBrake, using 18 Constant Quality, High Profile preset, surround and passthru audio tracks), or perhaps using a VPS so I don't run a physical server. Or if I stick with my bare metal box, doing hardware upgrades such as SSDs. But alas, we have a full house including an infant, and the current setup seems to work great for them. I most certainly would be open to other improvement suggestions as well Edited December 6, 2016 by landgazr 2

MSattler 390 Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Sweet setup! Is it me or does this look like this is taken from space with the Earth in view out the window? Lol, I didn't even notice that lol. So.... the builder in their infinite wisdom but that window there. Above the window is the patio door for the main floor. Now... the patio door needs either steps down or you put up a deck. Why in god's name would they put that window there? So yeah you get reflections off of it. My thought is black the window out or cover it with curtains =) That chair was free from a local reuse site. Spent $6 on the wood and $2 on the bolts to make the base. Now just need to buy it for the other and paint the wood black. =) 1
