PIA ( VPN ) Sometimes Cant Connect Over LAN

Hi Folks.

At the moment i'm getting this problem trying to connect locally on my home network and not from a remote location..

I dont know if this is just a PIA (private internet access) issue or a general issue when using a vpn. My apps can connect fine from my Samsung tv and my Android phone and then all of a sudden i cant connect to the Emby server. Rebooting my pc sometimes helps but closing the vpn works and the apps can then connect fine. Is there a way round this issue? I know vpn's change your public ip address but as far as i know that should not cause any issues connecting locally.

Where is PIA running? My emby server is permanently connected to PIA and I have no issues connecting internally. You probably need to post logs so someone can take a look.

Thanks for your reply ;)

PIA and the server are on the same machine. I may have been too quick to blame PIA. I did further experimenting and here is what i found..... Emby server seems to hanging on to or it is using  other local ip addresses and this is then causing my apps not to connect on my local network.

This is my laptops actual ip address using cmd and ipconfig, it ends in .187 (connected to modem)

Sometimes server shows the correct local address and the apps work fine but sometimes it shows a different ip address even though its still connected to the modem and the ip address in ipconfig is still ending .187. (modem). The server is showing an ip ending .37  which is the ip address i get when im tethering through my phone as a modem, but i'm actually connected to my modem and server is showing the wrong address.
