PenkethBoy 2068 Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 if the subs are internal - is the forced flag actually set for the sub title track? - if not you will need to set it e.g. MKVToolNix can do this for mkv etc if external does the subtitle file have "forced" in the name? So its e.g. same_as_moviename.Forced.Eng.srt Then Emby will turn those subs on by default subject to your user settings for subs 1
rbjtech 5284 Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 (edited) Also look in Emby itself under Media Info - and it will tell you what is available. In my example below - my subs are external - so as PenkethBoy advised - ensure they are named .forced.eng.srt and Emby will automatically play them. BUT unless you have either a separate substream in the MKV or separate .SRT file for the Spanish only parts (as I have) then Emby will not automatically be able to extract the Spanish bits ! Bubbie 0 Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Under user subtitle settings, I only get allow subtitle downloading and allow deletion of subtitles. About half my accounts automatically spit out subtitles the other half doesn't and they're all using the same settings. Something isn't right with Envy subtitle settings. Why not give us an option to turn off all subtitles in the app so those without access to the server subtitle options can turn off subtitles for their account. The server options don't seem to work like you developers say.

Subtitle behavior/modes are under user App Settings>Subtitles tab, not under individual user settings in Settings>Users tab and are unrelated to subtitle download/delete permissions.
