Question for the developers - Hardware recommend for HEVC encode (h.265)

Hello all,

 

I really appreciate all the work that was put into the latest update.  I would like to get the benefit of hardware HEVC encoding.

 

I was wondering what the developers preference is for stability etc.

 

My machine will need a low profile card and has a small power supply (really small 240 watts) so I am thinking with going with AMD.  But I wanted to get your impression of what camp you prefer for stability and reasonable throughput.

You are far better off with Nvidia as far as TDP (Thermal Design Power). You might be able to pull off a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and get that low profile. Likely best bang for the buck and not require replacement of your PSU.

Yes it is.  It is a small form factor case with a proprietary cable (Lenovo) so it is PITA to swap out and I don't game so.

The prices of GPU are rising again. The TDP of this card is 75W which your PSU will have no issues with. This is your best bang for the buck and it is on sale right now.
