Multiversion naming practical question

Pls advice how to name two versions of single movie - one is 4 part avi files, second is a two DVD disc set.

How to place files correctly ?

 

Now it placed like:

\XXX (1974)

  \XXX (1974)

    \Disc 1

      \VIDEO_TS

    \Disc 2

      \VIDEO_TS

  XXX (1974) - pt1 ... pt4.mkv

 

Movie itself is recognized, parts appears Ok. DVD discs recognized wrongly - totally different names.

 

If place as:

\XXX (1974)

  \XXX (1974) - DVD

    \XXX (1974) - DVD - dvd1

      \VIDEO_TS

    \XXX (1974) - DVD - dvd2 

      \VIDEO_TS

  \XXX (1974) - DVDRip

    XXX (1974) - DVDRip - pt1 ... pt4.mkv

 

in a list appears 3 icons: one per AVI set, and one per DVD disc.

Hi, this isn't supported with folder rips. You'd have to convert them to video files. Thanks.

Multi part files are a lot more rare these days then they used to be.

To me an easy way to handle this is just combine them into one file.

 

You can use AVIDemux (for any file type) to open the first file, then append the other files.  Lastly just save the file as AVI type.

My library consists of movies I've ripped from my DVDs and BDs. Some longer editions of some movies require multiple discs (most notably the

Extended Editions of the Lord of the Rings series). While I don't personally use the .pt1.mkv or .pt2.mkv, I include .disc1 and .disc2 in my rips.

I don't know if I could find external subtitles for a combined file.

Subtitles can make it a bit trickier but is usually not a problem from my experience.  This was only a suggestion and nothing more btw.
