Emby is capable of playing all the videos from TMDb for movies, apart from the main trailer. However, it does not seem to play next video for TV Shows, when I click on the nest button.

Hi there, it's not necessary to do this. You will get a response. Thank you for your patience while waiting.

Seems to be working fine here. Are you sure you had more videos in your now playing queue?

Well, I do not know for which TV show you have tried, but in my case, TMDb has 1 trailer and 7 teasers for Killing Eve (https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/72750-killing-eve/videos?language=en-US).

But when I click on next, the teasers don't play.

P.S.: I do not have any trailers locally stored, because TMDb already have them on-line.

Allow me to explain it more clearly to you

MOIVES

American Beauty has 1 trailer and 10 clips in TMDb. All of them can be accessed/played in Emby by clicking the next or previous button.

TV SHOWS

Killing Eve (for example) has 1 trailer and 7 clips in TMDb. Only the trailer plays. The clips won't play.

P.S.: I just discovered that a "more videos" window pops up behind the Emby player, as you can see in the image below, but it is inaccessible as the player is blocking it. So, it is obvious that there are more videos, which should play when we click the "next button". but it doesn't play other videos for tv shows.

P.P.S: I was making a guess that trailer source for Emby is TMDb , since the trailers are similar to that in TMDb

This would be a feature request as Emby has only recently got Trailers for TV Shows from TMDB.  It has never gotten teasers, clips, featurettes, opening credits videos.

Good. Then could you please move this topic to Feature Requests section, and rename the title to: Enable clips/teasers/featurettes for TV shows from TMDb?

Looks like it's done.

for a split-second I thought the feature was implemented, but then I re-read my above post. lol

We only import trailers from Tmdb, not extras. What this says to me is that for American Beauty there might be an extra that is mis-tagged as a trailer.

Well, allow me to you assure you that that's not true.

You can also check on 'Avengers Infinity War' to confirm. There are 2 trailers, 3 teasers, 2 clips and 1 featurette in English in TMDb which successfully plays one after the other in Emby. In order to make you believe me, I have also created an account in TMDb and captured a screenshot of their video editing page. As you can see, only two items are tagged as trailer. So, according to your perception, only 2 videos should have played in Emby. But, in reality, all the videos - no matter what the tag is - are playing fine for movies, but for some reason, not for TV Shows.

You're right, i checked american beauty, only one trailer. And when i test that movie in my library, i click trailer and i get just the one trailer.

The only explanations i can think of are:

  • You had a pre-existing nfo file for this movie containing extra urls, and emby read those urls
  • Your preferred language/country has different data on MovieDb

haha... I had deleted clips from TMDb that's you can see only one trailer ;)

Actually when I used to click trailer for American Beauty one of the clips would show up I don't know why, so I got frustrated, created an account there in TMDb and deleted those clips.

But surprisingly, those clips still show up in the library when I click on trailer of American beauty, and it doesn't show up for you. I cant understand why. I even refreshed metadata of AB

There's a cache on the metadata download. Try refreshing metadata again tomorrow. Thanks.

Thank you,. American trailer plays now, and the clips no longer appear

So, as you can see Emby is able to grab videos with tags other than trailer from TMDb - evident from my Avengers Infinity War example in an earlier post -

Will you make changes so that Emby is able to grab the same for TV Shows? It would be really great if we did not have locally store featurettes, clips and interviews, as it could be watched directly from Emby via TMDb

It's possible for the future, thanks.
