I can fix the overlap. The middle section with the tabs will be cut off as a result, but they'll still scroll and it will be an improvement from where things currently are.

It should no longer be overlapping now.

first, when selected, last item is now cut off (at least on the german translation), also there is no indicator that there is more on the right/left when scrolled, not very intuitive

 

moving all a bit to the left, centered between the left back arrow and the search/usericon/clock, might have been a better approach

 

second, being on the last item, press right, overjumps the search icon, the first time you do this

 

third, being on the first media item and pressing up to reach the categories, now goes left selecting the first item of the alpha picker, and is "trapped" there, no way up from here (red arrow)

 

what i expect is to go up, cause it's above and not left (blue arrow)

Yea it was just meant to be an incremental improvement, not a complete solution. The solution will be to drop the tabs down to it's own line when there's not enough room. Currently any resolution under 1080p is the threshold. But for certain languages, that threshold will need to be higher.
