Home network quality

Would anyone know why I am unable to save any changes to the 'Admin' 'Settings' section, specifically, the 'Home Network Quality'.  If I change the value from the default 'Auto' to something else and close the Emby windows in Microsoft edge, when I open Emby again, the setting has returned to 'Auto'  The same occurs if I uncheck any of the options on other screens, for example under 'Display' 'Enable backdrops' etc.  I have no visible 'Save' button, so I assumed that the settings would automatically save once you left the screen?

I'm using Version 3.5.2.0 of Emby on Windows 10 (all latest patches applied)

Is there a problem is this area, or am I doing something wrong?  I've searched other threads but couldn't find anyone else reporting this issue.

Thanks

Try using Chrome or Firefox.  Maybe it's a bug in MS Edge.

I'll give it a try.  I've been using emby for a while now and I've never managed to save any settings.  I tried the latest version also (4.0.1) and that doesn't save either.  I tried Outlook, but it appears emby is not compatible with the latest Microsoft outlook.

have you tried to delete/refresh the cache in your browser. That generally fixes issues of this type.

I haven't given that a try.  I just installed Chrome and all the settings saved first try, so it appears to be something to do with MS Edge.  For some reason emby does not like Edge, (on my computer anyway).  I'll give Chrome a try for a couple of days and I'll also try refreshing the cache in Edge to see if that helps.  I'd like to get MS Edge working if I can rather than Chrome.

Sounds like Edge browsing data is getting cleared. Perhaps you may have configured Edge to clear browsing data when closing the browser or periodically. That will cause this.

Thanks Luke, I have got Edge configured to clear browsing data.  I didn't even think of that being a possible cause as I thought the setting would have been saved somewhere in an ini file or maybe the registry.  Is it the 'Autofill' data being cleared that causes the problem or one of the other check boxes?

Sorry, what do you mean by this?

With Edge, there is a setting as you suggested to clear browsing data on exit and I have this set to on.  Under that setting, there are a number of different items that you can select to clear, Browsing History, cookies, cached data, download history, tabs, autofill data (includes forms and cards), passwords and a couple of others.  Rather that disabling the setting all together, I was wondering if you new which option caused the settings in emby not to be saved.

A quick test points to "Cookies and save website data".

Thanks for that.  I'll give it a try.  Sorry, I should have just tried the options myself - there weren't that many.

After a few more tests, the problem has been solved.  If you use Chrome (default settings), the settings in emby are saved,  If you use MS Edge, the settings are NOT saved if you have the checkbox next to "Cookies and saved website data" checked under Edge's settings for 'Clear browsing data on exit'.  If you uncheck the setting "Cookies and saved website data", the settings in emby are once again saved.

Problem solved - thanks for everyone's help.
