kamhouse 10 Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 (edited) In the Roku client the posters look smushed. Is this normal or do I have something setup wrong. The web interface looks fine. I was testing out emby after getting annoyed by Plex's new love for commercialism, but this isn't a great first impression. I'm hoping it's random chance I came in during a bug and it's not just sloppy attention to detail as a rule. It appears to be showing a vertical 1:1.5 poster image in a 16:9 frame. samuelqwe 317 Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Do you have image enhancers enabled in the Roku app settings? I usually find that helps with keeping proper aspect ratios for images.
ebr 16170 Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Yes, enabling enhanced images will help with them not being distorted. The issue here is the fact that the "Recordings" library is of mixed and unknown content type and that particular grid view in the Roku has to have exactly the same size for all items shown. So, when dealing with recordings, we make the assumption that we'll be dealing with primarily screen grabs and use a landscape aspect ratio. In any of your other libraries that are properly types as TV or movies, etc. things should look much better.

Personally I think it would look better to standardize on the poster style for everything and generate a letterboxed screen grab when needed. Was the "unknown type" more prevalent before Emby integrated the channel guide? Because everything in recordings seems to have a poster. The web interface even has a full set of 16:9 versions of the poster, but apparently the Roku isn't using those by default. Edited February 4, 2019 by kamhouse
Luke 42077 Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 We are looking into improving this so that the setting will not be needed, thanks. 1
