don.alcombright 15 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Wondering if this is possible or best suited for a plugin like Plex currently has. I use an excellent Agent called Common Sense Media which rates movies with no pun intended common sense instead of the MPAA rating which is a joke to say the least. This is probably low hanging fruit, but with little ones it makes sorting content a 1000 times easier for me as things are rated per year essentially, instead of just G, PG, PG-13, R etc. It is literally CSM 3-18. 5
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Looks like there have been users/devs that have tried to contact them without success. some discussion here https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/66993-api-projects-and-ideas/?p=667411

don.alcombright 15 Posted January 30, 2019 Author Posted January 30, 2019 +1000 from me but I don’t know how you get at the data. Common Sense Media has a developer API, although it appears people are having trouble getting them to respond so maybe they are closing that down? I'd think not as its a means to get their tracking out there. I have found it extremely helpful with my kids (age 4), because when I used to do MPAA it filters out a ton unless you open up to PG, but then if you do that it also adds a bunch of crap you wouldn't want a 4 year to see. Obviously you still need to pay attention, but filtering by each year with CSM was awesome.
ebr 16184 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Someone with a Plex forum account want to PM that Pip.longrun guy to see if he is interested in building his plug-in for Emby...? @@cayars
funwithmedia 373 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 I, too, doubt they'd be closing down their API. For example, Movies Anywhere has integrated Common Sense Media (and Rotten Tomatoes) into their movie details pages: https://moviesanywhere.com/movie/jurassic-world-fallen-kingdom-2018 Granted, Movies Anywhere has tons of clout such that CSM would see it as advantageous to work with them. But Movies Anywhere certainly isn't just scraping the data -- they're gonna be using an API of some sort.

Ironically, I think I introduced CSM to Plex. I've always really like what they are doing with ratings. BTW, He is shutting down this plugin as of tomorrow (2/1/2019) on Plex due to their removal of plugins and the manual and time consuming support this will cause having to manually install things. ebr 16184 Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 As long as he is legally obtaining the feed from CSM, we'd be happy for him to develop for Emby. 1
