Sent. I was not expecting the ability to send via PM an 18MB file so I did not look at that option.

I also find difficulty with Trakt. It seems that once I started the server up again today, I needed to do a new authentication with Trakt. Additionally, the running of play states indicated it ran in a few seconds and the collection scan said it failed. After looking, the reality is both failed. I know this as plays were not there after the run, but after I authenticated again, they were there. So it appears there is an issue with the failure notification on the task of syncing play states and an issue with saving the authentication with Trakt, unless authenticating each time with a new key is intended behaviour.

Please note that I am trying Emby which should be clear. So I am just reporting issues and asking questions as they come up. I am experienced in IT, so my level of pickiness is not ill intended.

Thanks for the help and trial guys, but I do not think Emby will work for me. I am finding too many issues being created by automated processes / tasks and no options to stop them from running or even control their run times and/or behaviour. I am sorry to say this because I kind of like Emby due to its light weight and simple interface. Should you ever allow users to configure the software, I would love to try again.

You would simply turn off nfo metadata saving. The downside of this though that if you ever use the emby metadata editor to make changes, they will not be written to the nfo file, and they could end up eventually getting lost altogether the next time the server re-imports data from the nfo. That could happen if the nfo ever changes or if you refresh metadata manually on something.

On this topic, what triggers the emby server from re-reading the file for re-import?  When the file has been updated? and if so, then emby must be storing when data the file was last read?

Correct, yes. The date modified timestamp.
