BobbyDing 56 Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Hi Folks. When playing "General Hospital" on my wife's PC using Emby Theater, playback video sometimes freezes but audio continues. After a short time the video will play catch-up to the audio, but then freezes again. The server is Emby Unraid 4.0.1.0, and latest Emby Theater. It's playing Direct Play. The shows play fine using the web based client (trans coding). The machine does play MPG2's via the HDHR app just fine, so it should have the horsepower. I'm attaching 2 log files. 1 with and 1 without debug enabled. Thanks! Bobby embyserver_nodebug.txt embyserver_withdebug.txt
BobbyDing 56 Posted January 29, 2019 Author Posted January 29, 2019 (edited) Hi again, So live TV works fine direct streaming. It seems that recorded TV freezes when direct streaming. any ideas? Thanks Edited January 29, 2019 by BobbyDing
Luke 42078 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Are these completed recordings, or active recordings?
Luke 42078 Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Hi, if you play these files in windows media player, does the same thing happen there?
abuthemagician 5 Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 I have had a similar problem playing media with the same server version and ET from the Windows Store. In my case video and audio freeze. All files play just fine in the Electron version of ET. I can also provide logs if I knew where/how

We plan to incorporate mpv into the store app in a future update. thanks.
abuthemagician 5 Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Interesting because we ended up using the stock windows "Movies and TV" app. Will wait for the update. Thanks for all you and the other programmers do!
Guest asrequested Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Interesting because we ended up using the stock windows "Movies and TV" app. Will wait for the update. Thanks for all you and the other programmers do! Why wait? Just use the desktop app. It's enormously capable.

Wife and I only had enough time to watch the show, not for me to install the desktop app, then watch the show. What the Wife wants, the Wife gets. If it's mpv being used in the store app that you're excited about, the desktop app is already using it. That's why I mentioned it.
Luke 42078 Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 The plan is to get mpv into the store app as well. It's just a little trickier because we have to figure out xbox one compatibility. thanks.
BobbyDing 56 Posted February 6, 2019 Author Posted February 6, 2019 Hi, if you play these files in windows media player, does the same thing happen there? Hi Luke. I'm just getting a few minutes to get back to this. Windows Media Player plays the file fine on the WIN10 PC streaming through the network. The video card is an nVidia Quadro 410 with the latest drivers. It just chokes on 1080i. Transcoded recordings play fine. Does theater do any transcoding? Or is it all done on the server? Thanks, Bobby
Luke 42078 Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Depends on which edition of Theater. The store app may require transcoding. The desktop app will not.
