bigverm23 2 Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 (edited) Linux Mint 19 Intel i5-3570k VAAPI GeForce GTX 1060 unlocked for multiple streams Seems when I transcode 4k specifically 2 streams, my CPU runs about 100% while the GPU is stressed minimally. How should I investigate this? Batman4kTranscode1.txt Avengers4kTranscode2.txt server.txt ffmpeg.txt Edited January 28, 2019 by bigverm23
Luke 42079 Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Both are using the gpu, but the fact that it's burning in subtitles could be related. burning in subtitles is a very expensive operation. you could try turning off the subtitles.
bigverm23 2 Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 Also of note here is that although my CPU was running at 1 hundred percent while transcoding those two 4k videos, my GPU was only running at about 5 to 10 % utilization

Thanks.
bigverm23 2 Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 Am I turning subtitles off at the movie level? Or at the server settings level?
Luke 42079 Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Just for that one playback session prior to playback. You can do that directly on the detail screen.
