Guy 7 Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 (edited) I am currently not able to delete some of the playlists. There is simply no option to even attempt to delete. In this example, the playlist "Test" has no delete option but also I noticed it has no path either. This playlist named "Paths" can be deleted but it does have the directory path available. It seems that playlists that do not have a path cannot be deleted. I am assuming these are virtual playlists. Is there any way I can remove these? Edited January 27, 2019 by Guy 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Does Test playlist appear in "\Emby-Server\programdata\data\playlists" folder?
Guy 7 Posted January 27, 2019 Author Posted January 27, 2019 It does not. I created the folder inside the playlists folder with the exact name and playlist.xml inside with the proper name to match the playlist title, refreshed the library, restarted emby server and still cannot delete it.
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 I have seen a similar issue where a playlist would not update the xml file when adding new items - because the path was also missing have seen this on windows and on a friends syno as well So at some point emby fails to add the path to a playlist - not found what conditions cause this as yet only way i found to fix it was to edit the database and add a path to the item - not something the average user can or should have to do 3

I made a back up of my library.db and opened it up to edit in DB Browser. Found the item in the MediaItems table, filtered the Data field as "shares" and discovered the playlists with missing paths. I added the correct paths and restarted emby server. Problem fixed using this method but I shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to be able to add a path. It should be able to be deleted even if it does not have a path using the emby server. Edited January 27, 2019 by Guy
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Great that you fixed your issue and yes Luke needs to fix this
Luke 42078 Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Try creating a new playlist of the same name. Let me know what happens there. Thanks.
Guy 7 Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 Try creating a new playlist of the same name. Let me know what happens there. Thanks. 2 of the 3 playlists were able to be deleted doing this method. The 3rd one named "Test" can still not be deleted even after recreating the playlist.

Luke 42078 Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 That is really strange. How did you create the playlist?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 I have only seen this happen once and was never able to reproduce it again. And I believe I ended up just removing the entry in the database.
nague 5 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 That is really strange. How did you create the playlist? I created playlists from a media => add to playlist => new playlist
Luke 42078 Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 I assume you upgraded from 3.5 to 4.0, correct?
nague 5 Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 I assume you upgraded from 3.5 to 4.0, correct? Right
Luke 42078 Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Did you ever try the beta and then roll back to stable?
M1tch 2 Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 I can confirm I'm seeing the same - brand new OS and Emby install (macOS server) a few weeks ago. Created 2 playlists by media => add to playlist => new playlist. Couldn't delete either Opened the DB as above added a path and the delete button returned. I had already deleted the folder and xml itself from /Users/me/emby-server/data/playlists so just used /Users/me/emby-server/data/playlists/1 in the db.
Luke 42078 Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 That's great info, thanks. I'll see if I can chase that down.
silver_2000 3 Posted May 18, 2019 Posted May 18, 2019 This topic is similar to the issue we are seeing - we have playlists with no path they are missing from the interface but still show up in the file system We have one play list that is in the web interface BUT not in the file system under /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/var/data/playlists Im scared to have to edit the DB to try to fix these We tried creating new playlist and copying the XML content to it and that worked once but not the second time Any help would be great
DerrickM 23 Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 (edited) same issue here. I have a bunch of playlists that randomly showed up, but you can see they arent listed under data/playlists in the file explorer Edited June 6, 2019 by mcfall.derrick
Wondertje 10 Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Not only do you have a bunch of extras but you also seem to be missing "Morgan" which is in the folder but not on Emby in that picture. 1
DerrickM 23 Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Huh, didn't even really notice that. Could it be from a different user. Or would it show all playlists from all users? I got rid of some of those by adding music and then the delete option appeared, for others I had to fumble with the library.db file. that is scary business.
Ninko 78 Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 I'm having the exact same problem, I tried creating a new playlist with the same name hoping it would just override it but it didn't, now I have 2 playlists with the same name and no way to delete them. Help please.
