IceBoosteR 10 Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 (edited) Hi all, I am happy to see that Emby has now released V4. worked for me sofar. The only thing I am really upset about is the fact, that all my media metadata gets deleted. All metadata from the movies needs to be redownloaded and I need to manually adjust a lot of them, as I did before. Nevertheless all collections are gone and I do not see the "Folder" view anymore. Now I need to spend some hours to get my metadata fixed again Edit: After a restart collection shows up again. JFI Edited January 24, 2019 by IceBoosteR
notla49285 48 Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 This is why I keep my metadata alongside the media
IceBoosteR 10 Posted January 24, 2019 Author Posted January 24, 2019 This is a good idea, but normally I do trust a database
notla49285 48 Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 (edited) I work with databases a lot in my job and trust them very little! It entirely depends on who constructs them and who maintains them (in my job, created by a moron and maintained by a frustrated me working around their bullshit). Lul I was administrating a lot of databases (Oracle) some year ago. I do trust them, and the data inside. Nevertheless the data structure is the key and normally you do not change the structure of formatted data like movies or tv shows, as they do not change. But if they need to modify something, I understand that re-scanning all media is a common way to identify your media. With that said, I would be happier if they do not have to do this. 2 hours are wasted sofar :/ Maybe a full metadata export would be nice, as I do only store the media files not the nfo or other files in the media folder on my NAS. notla49285 48 Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 I don't know what changed with the Emby database, but when I first set up my library I saw the option to store .nfo files alongside the media and jumped at it, in case of a situation like this or if anything went wrong with my Emby installation or the drive itself. I've gone from 3.5 stable -> 3.6 beta -> 4.0.0.1 beta -> 4.0.0.2 stable -> 4.0.1.0 stable and not had any issues at all. 1
