VanDean 1 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 (edited) Hi All, I have had this happen with the 4.0.0.2 version as well as just now with the 4.0.1.0 version running on Windows. I deleted an episode of "The IT Crowd" on my Roku and when I tried to view another episode, Emby just hung trying to display the episodes. I backed out and restarted the app on my roku and noticed that I no longer have a series called "The IT Crowd" which is odd as I still had many episodes to go. I logged into my server and sure enough, the whole folder is missing. I have attached the server log. Obviously this is a bit of a showstopper for me if it is going to keep eating my episodes. Previously it deleted all episodes of Vikings which I though was just a weird anomaly and maybe I did something wrong. This time I know I didn't do anything out of the ordinary. Thanks Dean Log.txt Edited January 22, 2019 by VanDean

VanDean 1 Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 I haven't used any other clients to test, so yes, only Roku. File is now attached. Thanks
Happy2Play 9784 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 The app guys will have to comment but the log shows the delete of the item then later the series. 2019-01-21 19:25:34.801 Info HttpServer: HTTP DELETE http://192.168.100.169:8096/emby/items/6395. VanDean 1 Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 Interesting. I deleted the episode and when I went to watch the next one it just sat with a rotating circle. I left it to load and came back a while later and after probably 20 (or 23) minutes I closed Emby on the Roku because it was still sitting there. When I reopened I had no more series.
Luke 42085 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 I think i see what happened. You "played next" from the series screen, and then also used the delete function from the series screen, thus deleting your entire series. Does this sound right?
VanDean 1 Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 (edited) I couldn't say with certainty that I DIDN'T do this. I wasn't even aware there was an ability to delete the whole series. Any chance of changing the option in the series menu from "Delete Media" to "Delete Series"? Edited January 22, 2019 by VanDean
ebr 16195 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Hi. It does look like you requested to delete the Series from here: There is a confirmation after that but it does just say "This Item". We can try and improve that to warn you that you are about to delete an entire Series/Season/Folder, etc. 1
Carlo 4561 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 That would be a GOOD IDEA! Maybe if possible show the user the count of items about to be removed as well, but understand if this isn't easy.
ebr 16195 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 but understand if this isn't easy. Correct, that would require a completely different API and workflow and updates to every app. A good idea (in fact I'm pretty sure there is a FR for it) but not a quick thing to do. 1
VanDean 1 Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 That definitely explains it. On the screenshot you have above, even if you could change the Delete button in that context to show Delete Series, I know that would have stopped me. If not, the other option you suggested about changing the wording of the confirmation would help as well. Thanks for your help guys! 1
