PBzeer 6 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 (edited) Unlike most, I don't have a home theater setup, nor multiple devices, nor any content that isn't movies or videos, or even use Emby in any way for viewing my media (I simply open the file in Media Player). Basically, it's a way for me to populate my .mkv rips so I can go to the Library view and check info (director, cast, etc.), so all the bells and whistles (sync, transcode, etc.) have no value for me. Hopefully, by the end of the month, I'll have most of my lost/incorrectly changed metadata back in order as NFO files in the folder. And lastly, I don't really care for the "new look" of v4, which brings me to my two part question. One, once it is doing what I want, the way I want it, would it be better (in my circumstances) to simply turn off updates, and Two, if so, could I just go back to the last v3 and do so (though I'm hesitant to do this lest it rescramble my metadata once again)? Happy2Play 9783 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 I have yet to have any major issue with metadata saved with media. So if Emby is required to be reconfigure or has a database issue all the metadata is readily available to be re-read. If it only resided in the database then you have to attempt to re-identify and get that metadata. 2
PBzeer 6 Posted January 21, 2019 Author Posted January 21, 2019 I have yet to have any major issue with metadata saved with media. So if Emby is required to be reconfigure or has a database issue all the metadata is readily available to be re-read. If it only resided in the database then you have to attempt to re-identify and get that metadata. I realize most have no issues with the updates. Perhaps I should rephrase my question. Do I need the updates to maintain the fetching and viewing (from the server GUI) of metadata for my content?
