howzz1854 18 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 (edited) i just discovered this today while troubleshooing a different issue. apparenlty the default server setup setting doesn't require you to enter password protection. so i found out that since singing up and installing Emby the last few weeks, my library was wide open to the ENTIRE world, with my pants wide open. it wasn't until i went into server setting, advanced option, and disable all remote connection i was then able to close that loophole. it was either that, or i went into the local user account (only have one), and enter a new password. i don't recall while installing and setting up the server program it ever asked me to setup a password. if it did, it wasn't there, because i was able to log into my library from my smartphone's LTE connection without prompting to enter any password!!!!!. in an age of privacy and security. i can't believe that Emby by default exposes you to the world. anyone with access to your external IP, and with a bit of google search of port number, can access all your library or content, that includes pictures!!. admin? care to shed some light? Luke 42078 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Hi, in the near future we will be revamping all of the login procedures and part of that will be making the out of box setup more strict. Thanks.
