clollar 9 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 I'm so tired of this. I can't fast forward more than 30 seconds at a time. Meaning, I hit halftime of the Chiefs Pats game and wanted to fast forward (more than a few clicks aka 30 seconds) past halftime and resume, nope. The recording became completely unresponsive and now I can't resume the recording where I was at. Can I not watch a recording is progress? Log is attached but I'm sure there's nothing that can be done. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-directstream-8f78cc0c-b8e7-481e-8b15-da04160224c5_1.txt

pwaller02 2 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 I was watching the Saints/Rams NFL football game last night. And had a bad experience trying to fast forward during the in-progress recording. I'm new to Emby and just set everything up this weekend. I was accessing the server with Windows Theater on my Win 8.1 HTPC, and things were going smoothly for most of the game. I was watching about 45 minutes behind real time, and 30 second skipping commercials, and halftime. Around 2+ hrs into the recording, I pressed a 30 sec skip, and it suddenly jumped to real time (or near real time, which showed me a score update that I hadn't seen yet ). Then as I pressed the back skip button it skipped backwards, as expected, but then started skipping forward. Even though I continued to press the back skip button, it was advancing. Very strange. So, then I backed completely out of playback, and went back to the home screen. Tried to resume, and playback seemed stalled as it was trying to resume. So, I started restarted playback from the beginning, and unfortunately, found no quick way to move ahead 2+ hrs into the recording. Had to 30 skip all the way back to where I was. It then behaved normally til the end of the game. In addition, I had set the game to record 1 hour past its normal end time. After the game concluded, I could find no way to stop the recording that was in progress. I had to wait for it to finish, then I could delete it. All in all, I like the possibilities for this DVR with OTA and the HDHomerun Premium TV, and integrate my large media library all in one place. And, across Windows, Android, and iOS platforms. 1
Sammy 790 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Not unlike the issues already reported. Hoping for a fix. Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk 1

clollar 9 Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 Hi. What version of the app are you using? As far as I know, the standard/latest stable version. I was previously using the beta, but it didn't go well. However at the time I was also on beta for the server. Are you suggesting the beta android tv app is better? I just wish there was something we could put our finger on so I could at least make an informed decision about server hardware, clients, apps, subscriptions (emby, plex or hdhomerun), etc. But as it stands now, nobody has an answer. And ironically my roku is working better. smh
clollar 9 Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 (edited) My previously recorded shows are working like I charm, for what it's worth. I've been busy but I'll test in progress recordings soon. Thanks. Edited January 22, 2019 by clollar

That first item is main reason why I haven't picked up premiere yet. FF while recording was added about 2 years ago, but it seems like it's still stuck in the same progress that your only option is 30 second skip. With the NASCAR season fast approaching, it would be terrible to accidentally click out of an in progress recording and even attempt to 30 second skip 3 hours back into a race. (For reference that would take 360 clicks) Even a button that was 10 minute skips would be functional, but obviously just being able to click on the timeline would bring it up to feature parity with most DVR software. This is 100% a deal breaker, hence why I haven't made the switch yet. As for the stopping an active recording, I had a note that said that feature existed when I checked in early 2017. Not sure if you just needed to go into a different location to do that, but afaik that should exist. From your wording though it does sound like they were able to add a resume for an active recording. If that's the case then that was the only other feature I had in my list that wasn't present. So in most cases you would hope you can just resume the recording, and the 30 second skip problem becomes less of an issue. (Up until it doesn't work correctly like in your case)
maegibbons 1287 Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 Resuming in progress recordings is still broken. Weve asked for it to be looked at but currently the devs are "not listening" to our feedback on several issues. Krs Mark

Sammy 790 Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 No, not really. We just haven't figured out how to add more hours to the day yet .I know. You guys are doing as much as you can as fast as you can. I have a Lifetime Premier but contribute monthly because I am so happy with what Emby has become and want to see it progress even more. Thank you and @@Luke for your hard work! Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk 1

clollar 9 Posted October 5, 2019 Author Posted October 5, 2019 Was there an update? I know there was a shield update but I assumed the issue was on the server side, not the app side. But I am currently watching the Hawkeye game with zero issues watching an in progress recording. This is a huge deal to me for sports. I am cautiously optimistic.
Sammy 790 Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 I run the beta AndroidTV app on my ShieldTV with no issues seeking LiveTV for quite some time now. Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk
clollar 9 Posted October 6, 2019 Author Posted October 6, 2019 Spoke too soon. While it appears to be working fine on the Shield, it is still not working on PC (Emby Theater) or Android phone.
