unresponsive and emby server crash on version 4.0.0.2

Here we go again. PLEASE please please give us the ability to revert back to earlier versions......

First, please may we have the ability to revert to previous versions!?  Every update breaks something.

I'm back again because emby updated to 4.0.0.2 and I had to restart for a separate windows update. I dont have the time to troubleshoot every single time emby updates and breaks. Lets get it together please. It is understood that developers dont want issues and work very hard to prevent them. Users dont want issues either and its absolutely frustrating to build a system around such volatile software! I am not a beta tester nor do I participate in development for emby, I dont want to I just want a player to play is that too much to ask? I am like many people out there. I have a 9-5 job, family, bills, and a ton of other things to do then sit here keeping up with emby and the issues from version to version.

I apologize for the rant but come on this is just crazy. I need and want and even paid for premium just to be able to have an experience that I dont have to develop. The only input from me should be adding to my media library. NOT this constant troubleshooting.

I have attached a log file for the time I am experiencing the issue(s). Emby starts after a reboot and as soon as I navigate to my main movie library and scroll down 5 rows, it becomes unresponsive, artwork goes missing, and the status circle spins endlessly. the tray icon disapears and I have to relaunch Emby Server from programs. This is all being done on the local server machine and not through a mobile/pc client.

May we please, go back to a previous version? I dont have weeks and months to troubleshoot this again. it was working well on 3.5 or whatever the version was. Again, I'm sorry for the frustration in this post, please turn this experience around.

I have an old libSkiaSharp.dll I troubleshot with some months back from another thread that I copied over and ver 4.0.0.2 seems to crash a little less. I have no clue if this was a good step in troubleshooting but in light of not seeing any response and it being a rainy weekend where Id like to watch a movie instead of troubleshoot, this is what I did.

Anyone can downgrade whenever they like as previous versions are on GitHub.  But a downgrade can be just as much work as a upgrade do to database changes, so you will have to rebuild unless you have a backup.  Also note you will have to remove all plugins as those versions are only compatible with current server version.  But this could just create bigger issues later if you do decide to update to a future release.

I personally would try a clean install of current release before attempting to downgrade to a older release.  Everyone's systems are unique and not two setups are alike.

besides artwork being removed and replaced with screenshots all of the chapter images have been removed. Please why would you release such a poor version onto the public with all these problems? how can we fix this?

Where do you save your metadata?  As this issue arises every time a major database change happens.

The only fail safe method is saved with media, as it is always there to be re-read into the database.

seems this should of been the default then!? I went back to 3.5 but more than half of the artwork was screenshots of the movie. so that is a bust too. where and how can i get the metadata from before? how can i easily get it to the specific folder or a location so his doesnt happen again?

Ive returned to a completely clean install where I had to setup v4.0.0.2 as a new server. now the parsing of the name and year has been identified as an issue that should receive an update.

how can there only be a few people with issues? might I suggest pulling this release completely until the major issues are resolved? you cant completely destroy thousands of movie content and think its an acceptable version to be live.

Anybody can downsize at whatever point they like as past renditions are on GitHub. Be that as it may, a minimization can be the same amount of work as a redesign do to database changes, so you should remake except if you have a reinforcement. Likewise note you should evacuate all modules as those forms are just perfect with current server variant. Be that as it may, this could simply make greater issues later in the event that you do choose to refresh to a future discharge.

I for one would attempt a clean introduce of current discharge before endeavoring to downsize to a more seasoned discharge. Everybody's frameworks are extraordinary and not two setups are indistinguishable.
