WilhelmStroker 102 Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Not sure if this is a change in 4.02 but I noticed that the movies in Continue Watching now show the picture that is downloaded as the backdrop image during metadata collection. Is there a way to make it use the movie poster instead as some of the backdrop pictures aren't great and it makes it more difficult to recognise the movie?
ebr 16185 Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Hi. Exactly where are you seeing this? Do the movies in question have thumb images?
WilhelmStroker 102 Posted January 19, 2019 Author Posted January 19, 2019 In both the Web client and Shield. None of the movies I checked has a thumb image, is that what is being used?
Happy2Play 9782 Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Are you asking for a feature request to use Posters instead of Landscape/Thumb/Backdrops for Continue Watching? 2
ebr 16185 Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 The web has always used thumbs in this view. The only recent change is Android TV conforming to that as well. The problem with using posters is that some items don't have them (episodes) so then you are left with not so good options (unless you allow different shaped items on the row which is what Android TV used to do).
WilhelmStroker 102 Posted January 21, 2019 Author Posted January 21, 2019 Are you asking for a feature request to use Posters instead of Landscape/Thumb/Backdrops for Continue Watching? Yup I guess so.. Personally, I don't mind thumbs for episodes but for movies it would be a good option to be able to see posters instead of thumbs. I never use the Web client so I didn't really notice the current behaviour as I only really use Android TV.
Luke 42080 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 A setting is always possible in the future. In the meantime if you ensure your movies have thumb images, then i think you will have a better experience:
WilhelmStroker 102 Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 My movies do have thumbs but some just have a backdrop style picture with a screenshot from the movie. Thanks for the feedback and explanations though, the responsiveness is great
